I'm going to do an actual boosted antenna at some point but I just wanted to try the free downloadable windesurfer parabolic antennas for the hell of it.

Well...I doubled my distance! That's not saying much considering it only got to 4000 feet with the windsurfers....but I could only go 1900-2100 Ft. before. I'm in the suburbs...lots of tall, old growth trees and wi-fi everywhere. I took the same path I normally do, over the school and through the cemetery, it went well past the cemetery this time before losing the RC signal.

I know they look like crap and they're probably a tad bit too small but I was just messing around to see what I'd get. I'm happy with them for what they are but I really need a boosted antenna to punch through all these trees.

Yes....it is sandwiched between a thin piece of cardboard and the paper template....used contact cement and a credit card to smooth out any wrinkles in the aluminum foil. Oh and I used the good, thick Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil.

If iI were to make them again I wouldn't use the cardboard...even though it's thin it was a bit too thick for this. Heavy paper would work much better.
