Last year we had a missing motorcyclist … I flew my P3P as a private citizen at the request of the sheriff's dept. I will be getting my 107 this spring.

There have been a few questions here about hoping to join the registry without 107 certification. I'm new to flying but before learning about DSAR here, I already had it in my mind that if I heard of a local SAR going on, I would approach LE/ lead and offer to help if they wanted me to. Years ago we had a neighbor's elderly parent with Alzheimer's go missing in winter and all rallied together to participate in the search, so this has been on my mind. Maybe too much effort, but would be nice to track a secondary "registry" of recreational volunteers willing to help when they can. Just a thought.
