I'm Pissed off, but do I have a right to be?

I'm pissed because I see the Mavic Air introduction as classic market manipulation by DJI, and they're pointing the manipulation straight at Mavic owners. Again, this is all my humble opinion, but DJI intentionally made the Air so close in specs and features to the Mavic Pro so Mavic Pro owners will sell their Mavics and purchase the new Air. And if someone is in the market for a new drone, the Air is the logical choice. So DJI captures both the current Mavic Pro owner market AND the new buyer market.

Then, once everyone jumps ship to the Air, I'm sure DJI will strategically introduce the Mavic Pro II or Mavic Air Pro (or whatever they decide to call it) so folks who have a six-month old Air will be tempted to buy the Mavic Pro II.

I realize DJI is in business to make money and all that blah, blah blah. But I feel like DJI has just kicked me and other Mavic Pro owners in the balls (or crotch).

Please understand these are my simple thoughts and observations. Please don't hate on me!

Your thoughts.

Mavic still has it beat, longer flight time, twice the range, for just a few hundred more and yes dji is all about pissing of consumer

Yea they are two different dogs. The things that would make me get an Air are;

1. USB Type C !!!!!
2. Built in memory.
3. Rear avoidance.
4. APAS
5. Smaller size.
6 100 Mbps.
7. Agility/Speed
8. Gesture mode-until the novelty wore off and I got tied of it.

Personally, I'm holding out for the Mavic Pro 2 and I may be alone here but I hope it looks exactly like the Air but bigger with all of it's features plus, a 1" 20 M camera sensor, side sensors, 30+ min flight time and 50-60 mph top speed.

That's pretty much exactly what I want to see next.

You're not alone! A Mavic Pro II with a 20mp camera! I'M IN!

I think it is aimed at new-to-drone people & current Spark owners. The Mavic Pro is the superior quad for sure. Different strokes for different folks.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again...I just saved 800 bucks to put towards the Mavic Pro II.

Oh I almost forgot about the op. Are you angry when Chevy comes out with a new truck? Samsung comes out with a new TV? I bought a 75" Samsung 8000 series in 2016, should I be angry about the new QLed televisions? I've said this in other threads, some of you demonized DJI for practices that virtually every company engaged in. Seemingly some of you are actually angry with them for producing new and innovative products. Maybe they should still be selling the Phantom 1?...

Just got the MP platinum 3 weeks ago, gotta say flight time is a determining factor for me. Would get a Mavic Air for short flight runs but I wouldn’t trust it to fly long haul like the Mavic Pro.. 21 minutes means in real time a 5 min (10 min return) flight run.. not great for litchi or anything interesting... IMHO its a selfie toy with a decent camera... positioning is different... if you need a travel flying camera just for occasional shots, this is it. I really wish they can come up with a drone that can fly one hour nonstop.

If you're in a neighborhood, the Mavic Pro should be the drone you use. Shouldn't have any interference issues with everyone's 2.4Ghz/5Ghz networks.
I'm glad I live in the boonies, nobody but me and the neighbor's cows.

Anything but red.

What's wrong with red? Fire trucks are red, roses are red, my bank account is in the red - what's not to love?

I'm a recent Mavic Pro owner (December) and I'm not tempted at all by the Air. What we are seeing is the rapid growth of technology. Of course DJI should keep making their drones better and better, and offer more choices to customers.

I'll be interested in the Mavic 2 when it comes out, and when it does all those Air owners are going to feel a bit skittish. It just happens. Whatever you buy, whenever you buy, something else will ALWAYS come along. In the long run, that's good for us as customers, and if DJI makes the right choices about technology and pricing, it will be good for DJI too.

I have an MPP as well. Love the range and flight time. Yeah, the camera on the Air is better. But, in 3-4 months the next DJI drone will have yet a better camera/etc. and the cycle will forever continue. It's the way of the world.

A side note, none of the reviewers that I've seen have even mentioned the MPP in comparison. It's all MP vs. MA. Feels like the MPP is sort of nonexistent.

Just wait for the mavic pro 2 news. That’s what every tech/ car company do. They push out lower end products first and couple of months later the pro version comes out. It’s so close in spec because the pro 2 is going to have all that and some. That’s right now it feels like air is so close to the current pro. I believe the pro is coming in middle of the year.

Not sure if I'm allowed to say this but I'll try to be subtle.

I LOOOVE my Mavic Pro after I hooked it once to the computer and did some things. Been flying with these internal changes for 6months and there is no way I will buy the bulky Phantoms or the "pocket"sparks and the new Air. My top speed (MP) is over 80km/h and descend/ascend 10m/s. When I learned to control these speeds with a real cameradrone and not a racingdeone i cannot get enough of the Mavic Pro. Ever.
Just my two cents.
