I am trying to get into mapping but it seems very difficult when you have a DJI Mavic 2 Pro - my only drone. I am trying to use DJI GS Pro but I still haven't got across the board green on the preflight check - still missing the GEO unlock part. Also, trying to learn the Litchi app. Anyone out using or recently used their M2P to do mapping? Would appreciate thoughts, suggestions, starting a conversation on this... Thanks.

It should be straightforward if you use DroneDeploy

If you have updated your M2 Pro to the latest software to include RID, then it will not work with GS Pro. DJI tells you that before you run the update. Perhaps that is the issue?
DroneDeploy is a much more robust mapping app. It is free, but if you want to process the images into a map they charge for that. Until you are making a lot of maps, you may want to check out Maps Made Easy. Getting started in mapping an M2Pro will work, but if you get serious, you will need something with RTK capabilities, such as an M3E with RTK module.
You may want to look at an online class such as In-Person Drone Mapping Essentials Workshop - UAV Coach. There are others to choose from as well.
Good luck.

We use Pix4Dcapture almost exclusively on our Mavic 2 Pro. We have used it since updating to include RID but not in several months. The app can be used for free and then the images that are collected can be uploaded to OpenDroneMap Drone Mapping Software - OpenDroneMap™

I have found Dronelink to be very good. More affordable than many options. And I am confident you will find your drone to be in the supported list.

Check Dronelink compatibility list

I was told today about a work around. I launched the M2P with the DJI GO 4 app and as it was hovering, I closed the app and opened the GS Pro. The GPS part of the preflight check was a little troublesome so I moved the drone higher and did the preflight again. All green and proceeded with the mission. Only other hitch was at the end of mission, it got hung up on how to return so I did it manually. This drone flying world is not easy.
