I crashed and needed to replace my Mini 2 top cover. I removed it (not for the faint of heart) and searched online for a replacement. DJI "after sales" did not have any (every rep I spoke with asked if I was in America . . .) They recommended a third party partner, "Camrise" and I ordered one from them. Camrise links shift over to djinyc. All sources I found claim their top cover replacement is "compatible" with my Mini 2 (Amazon for example). However, none of the sites show a black square in the nose (looks like tape but doesn't appear to be) and the two foil rectangles. (see photo). The black square has a small upright tab that appears to touch the thicker black rectangle in the body when the top cover is closed.

What are these and what is their purpose?
If they are absent, what is the impact on flying?

I found this from this article...

The Copper tape is EMI shielding tape and is there for the antenna.
The Black Tape has a mesh that contacts the outside of the body and helps the VTX with transmission. (antenna also)
Its a part you need when you replace the part that DJI neglects to say much about BUT you need it. its called EMI or Faraday tape. Available at electronics stores near you..
EDIT..P.S... Camrise is DJI New York.

MA2: thank you for your insights. If they are absent, what is the impact on flying? Never mind. Cafguy posted the answers

Cafguy: thank you. I'm hoping the replacement to from DJI NY has the EMI shielding and "the mesh black tape"
If it does not, do you think the "mesh" and shielding can be removed and reinstalled on the new top?
If so, what's the best way to do that?

YES and I have done it on mine I simply removed the old black tape very carefully and used a sticky clear tape to secure it to the new Drone. Just make sure to leave the side of the tape that will touch the thick plastic alone ( don't put adhesive on it. I dont think it will matter too much if you do BUT you never Know.
I think the Drone would be fine without the Black tape UNTIL you got way out there or behind an obstacle. I would get new copper tape from the store and put it on for sure! it will help with interference.

@Cafguy: clarification about "leave the side of the tape that will touch the thick plastic alone ( don't put adhesive on it." Please clarify that the "thick plastic block is on the lower half of the body. Did you remove ALL the black tape? Or did you remove only the portion of black on the top half? (see photo).
Regarding the small upright tab which projects from the black tape (photo) does it come off with the black tape requiring it be replaced with the new black tape?

I apologize for my "duh" questions, but I want to be super careful with this "drone surgery." It's the only drone I have.IMG_2429.jpeg

The mesh is the important part its under those rectangular tabs. If you notice the mesh is placed where the plastic gets thicker. To save a headache you could order some from above and use any thin tape to re-apply it. The tape DJI uses is still a mystery, and since I am not sure what adhesive is used I cant tell you to use a certain one, this is why I simply scotch tape the piece back onto the thicker plastic.
That tab if plastic should be molded with the body part..Sorry I have not taken apart a Mini 2 so I cannot be sure..
If you are speaking of the little squares of paper...Thats the mesh they use..
If you put the original back on using Kingboxer You should have no problems at all just dont apply it thick under the tape!
I think the New part will come with it, I am Curious.
