Insta360 Antigravity

Actually, they are fierce competitors, and couldn’t agree to work together. Insta360 approached DJI about incorporating their cameras onto a DJI drone about 6 months to a year ago, and DJI's response was, "Hell, no!"

So Insta360 sought out another drone partnership, and is now working with AntiGravity, but is at risk of being upstaged by whatever DJI has planned for their own 360 camera drone before AntiGravity can be released in January of 2026. They tipped their hand way too early!
Either way when I look at the insta360 body it looks the same as a mini 4, so in some way or another they have a partnership or they copied it

The certainly do not have a partnership, so they ripped off the design, and I am sure DJI's 360 drone will "borrow" from the best design of Insta360, and just call it even. May the best 360 drone win, or the first to market!

Except this competitor is also a Chinese company.
And as such, will face extra scrutiny. Unlike DJI, they have not been specifically named by US law and have not faced any new model bans by the FCC. That all could change, but the US market at the moment is more open to an Insta360 drone than it would be for an equivalent model from DJI.

DJI's new Osmo 360 camera with a 1” sensor will likely kill Insta360 X5 sales.
The prerelease video of the comparison, sponsored by DJI, is intriguing!

unfortunately, not competition for the insta. Overheats drastically and shuts down if you want to use it for more than 10 mins. had it sitting on a table with plenty of ventilation on a coolish evening and it just couldnt run for an extended time.

I am confident DJI can solve those issues, even if by no other means than just reverse engineering the Insta360 version. Version 2 for the win. So far, we have no idea how the final version of the AntiGravity drone will fly, compared to a Mini 4 Pro, either.

Unless Insta360 does something really stupid, like GoPro Karma stupid, the flying part of the drone should be fine.

It gets back to if DJI can't get a new drone certified by the FCC, the AntiGravity drone will have no competition.

I wasn't referring to the U.S.. I meant globally, which is where both of them will still continue to compete without artificial U.S. governmental limitations and unfounded paranoia.

Taking the US out of play is a limiting factor for DJI. Last year, US sales were 34% of DJI's revenue. The loss of that market won't be fatal to DJI, but it will affect them. And allows new players to step in.

Any predictions to whether Antigravity stays in the drone game or not?

I predict the A1 is their first and last drone. But for different reasons from why GoPro failed.

If you can't launch the A2 in the US but only the rest of the world, how is that going to be enough to justify the development of the next drone which is supposed to be >250g and more advanced and even more expensive?

If you bought the A1 and you are waiting on the new RC (sticks), will the US be getting new equipment that's covered under controllers?

Looks like the FCC did DJI a solid. DJI got trounced in the 360 drone launch but they are likely able to persist in the long run since the bottom block of drone manufacturers might have been wiped out by taking the US off the drone table.

I guess we'll know when Best Buy puts the A1 on clearance and then ends up shipping unsold until back to Antigravity because they couldn't get the price down low enough to get rid of those boat anchors.

What a mess. Lessons learned by anyone thinking about getting in the drone biz. If you can't handle instability and unpredictability at any point for any reason at any time then maybe look to doing something different instead like making voodoo dolls.

Losing roughly 30% of the market is a big hit. but not enough to end a product line. Being added to the Entity list didn't "end" Hauwei. Blocking Chinese EVs in the US didn't end their production.

Assuming the A1 is a success, there will be an A2. We just won't see it in the US.

We'll see; time will tell.

We can see, time did tell. Biden blocked the sales of Chinese EVs in the US with prohibitive tariffs. China is now the leading exporter of EVs worldwide. Huawei is doing well, just not in the US.

By going after all non-US made drones, the FCC leveled the playing field for DJI. Their competitors will not have a leg up on DJI by being able to bring new products to the US.

The prices seem low.

ItemPrice (CNY)Approx. Price (USD)
DJI Avata 360 (with DJI RC 2)¥3,988~$570 USD
DJI Avata 360 Fly More Combo (with RC 2)¥5,688~$810 USD
DJI Avata 360 (Standard, no controller)¥2,988~$430 USD
DJI Avata 360 Fly More Combo (with FPV Goggles)¥5,688~$810 USD
DJI Care Refresh 1-year¥398~$57 USD
DJI Care Refresh 2-year¥698~$100 USD
Extended Insurance Option¥1,499~$215 USD

¥5,688 (~$810 USD) for the Fly More Combo with either the DJI RC 2 remote or the Goggles doesn't seem realistic. That is more than $100 USD (pre-tariff) less than the pricing for the Avata 2 Fly More Combos.

Yes they do seem rather low for MSRP so I'm hoping with the usual markup we've experienced lately, the price is still reasonable and we can reasonably get the Avata 360 for our last DJI drone. Unfortunately these low prices seem to suggest there's nothing special or revolutionary about the Avata 360, maybe it's just a simple drone with a 360 camera bolted on it. Do we even get 360 software?

So nothing like the apparently more advanced AG A1 but the much lower price, if true, is going to devastate the super overpriced AG A1 for sure. All still rumors, but again, if DJI doesn't launch soon, they run the risk of FCC certifications being revoked which means you probably need to get Avata 360 as soon as it is available (probably after the obligatory China-first launch).
