It was the first non-holiday day of the new year, and time to see the sunrise over Biscayne Bay in Miami at my favorite shooting grounds, Mathson Hammock, part of the Miami City parks.
I really needed to practice with both the drone and the Nikon
Z8 so I planned to do a short filming at Matheson Hammock Park, my favorite stomping grounds. As per usual, I try to get there when the gate opens at 6AM!
There are a crew of regular photographers at this site every morning and they were there too! We all gave room to each other. I shot a timelapse of the sunrise using Photopills to locate the site of the sunrise. There were just too many clouds on the horizon but I got some good colors. When it became full light, I walked the short distance to the lagoon and did some drone flights over the lagoon. The tourists are still in town and things get crowded. By Tuesday AM it will be empty so I might go there again for more tries for a nice big fireball sunrise. Here are some images from this morning’s shoot.
