I had decided on the Air 3 instead of the 3S and ordered in November, shipped on January 3rd and held in Customs ever since with no end in sight. I requested and just got a full refund from DJI and now I'm thinking of waiting for the next new drone in the Air series as the Air 3 and 3s have been out for some time. I'll continue to enjoy my Air 2s in the meantime.

By all accounts they can be difficult to get hold of in the USA.

Air 3s arrived today in perfect shape. Added to my FAA device list and marked. Batteries charged, firmware updated, planning to fly tomorrow.

Snuck in a quick flight at lunchtime. Couple things jumped out:

- Much quieter than my Mavic Pro. Especially the initial spool up / idle
- impressive climb rate
- Short test video looked great
- Shutter button takes a long press - thought I had shot some stills, but I was just focusing.

Planning to grab a few sunset shots this evening. We’ll see if I can actually take the photos this time LOL

Oh, and AirSense alerting for nearby aircraft heard on ads-b is cool. It pinged me for a nearby helicopter. He was no factor, but the alert was nice.

Enjoy! I’ve enjoyed it for the little time I’ve put into it. Once winter hit, I haven’t flown much being in the northern part of the U.S. (Although the south has received about as much snow as we have all winter - but I digress, don’t want to turn this into a weather forum.)

The speed and responsiveness to the controls is one thing I noticed right away compared to my other drones. I like how it handles.

And I can’t wait to get my hands on the Air 2S. Have a refurbed combo unit coming. Just had to see what the fuss was about! I heard it had a Sony sensor similar to what is in Sony’s RX 10 and 100 cameras, which are superb devices.

Sunset shoot last night over the neighborhood just to test the camera and get familiar with the settings. Here's a sample 50mp shot - resized and slightly cropped but not graded.



I am definitely pleased with the upgrade

The noise level is noticeably lower with the 3S than the original Mavic Pro. The rate of climb and lower audio signature helped avoid activating the neighborhood Karen during the shoot.

Ordered mine from dronepoint in December. Sitting in customs since December 18. No movement, no status change even after a “return to sender” was requested. No refund until it is returned - who knows when. I also went ahead and paid the import fees to hopefully keep from slowing down shipment. It isn’t due until delivery (COD). I should have waited cause now I am also out the $58 or so in fees to UPS. I am also not in control or cannot change or investigate since the return to sender was requested by dronepoint. All I can do is watch the daily warehouse scans in hope it is released soon so I can get my refund.

I too just ordered one directly from DJI the rz2 10 years ago flew Nitro helicopters with fly bars so this GPS computer thing scaring the crap out of me
