Hi,

I have been flying my Mini 2 today. I made a flight in open countryside no problems with distance or height. Changed battery and made a flight. I got to 50m and the drone stopped and said that I had reached my maximum distance. Same for height at 30m. I had 28 satelites connected and no other restrictions in place. I am in no flight restriction zones.
Turned drone on aand off, Controller on and off. Reset return to home point but still restricted to 50m. The only thing I can find in the manual is that it does this if GPS signal is weak.
According to the GoFly app I had good GPS signal from many satelites.
Am I missing something?

Does it have a payload mode that you could have manually activated in the app? If you replay the flight in profile you can check satellite counts and messages etc..

Checked the flight. 27 satellites. Dont know how to tell if payload mode was on but I'm pretty sure it wasn't. rc 5 bars and was in the DJI app as it has captured the data plus I was viewing the camera footage. I have to admit that the mode it was in was as if it didn't know it was connected to the app.

Just popped outside and tried again and managed to fly normally.

Not sure what happened but will watch out for it again. I've seen another post that suggests this could be a glitch in the firmware update....

for the MM the payload switch/slider is down at the bottom of the advanced settings in the safety menu

Not sure where, but someone has suggested it was due to the beginner / tutorial mode being activated. This seems plausible as I had accidentally pressed the option but thought I had cancelled it. Obviously mustn't have.
I feel better that I have a plausible explanation now as I am a bit paranoid that the current situation with DJI in the USA will mean restrictions coming into the software to limit usage.

I thought it might have been set to beginners mode, but that doesn't turn off automatically and you said a subsequent flight was OK. I don't think manual setting of payload mode turns off automatically either.

However external conditions can turn on payload mode for just that flight. If you play back the flight lov or view the log file with external tools, you might see a message explaining the cause.

There is I think a difference between the beginner's tutorial and a beginner's mode. In fact I can not find a beginner's mode switch in the app and the beginner's tutorial will not start, for me, with the MM in the air.
I suspect it is possible you triggered the payload mode or that there was some other problem.

These would, almost certainly, be documented in either the txt or DAT flight logs.
Instructions for accessing these can be found DJI Flight Log Viewer | Phantom Help it's a doddle if you are an Android and Windows user but a bit more complicated if you are an Apple user
