Limiting Max Speed

There are certain times when I want to limit the maximum flying speed. At those times P mode is too fast but Tripod mode is too slow. Trying to hold the right stick at the speed I want while also adjusting the flight direction with the right stick makes it hard to keep the speed consistent for very long.

What is the best way to limit that speed without affecting other flight parameters? Would it be the Attitude setting, or in the EXP settings? For example if I want to set the limit somewhere around 50% of full throttle in P mode. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less.

Yep, cruise control and heading hold would be nice to have.

I use Tap Fly to keep constant directions and speed, but the times I'm referring to require the direction to be changed on the fly. For instance, backward and left or right. I need to vary the left/right movement on the fly but not the speed. And it's usually going backwards.
