There is very little information on using a balance charger (ex: IMAX B6, Venom Pro Duo) to charge a smart battery. How do you set up the charger to do this safely?

You don't. The battery's built-in smarts does it for you.
The so called charger is nothing but a power supply for the battery's onboard charger.

You also void the warranty by using this with OEM batteries.
