Litchi?

Must have taken a while lol!

About 9 months from start to finish. I think I ran it 6 times. Transitions are just basic fades. My alignment could have been a little better

I love the Litchi App, its give you the ability to fly the same route time after time. You can get perfect pans and camera angles. I've used it probably 2 dozen times and never had any issues.

Both of these videos were 100% preplanned

Very nice. Do you know the owner of the mansion? There is a town here in ma with some real nice ones like that. I always notice that the big mansions like that always look like no one lives there. The only thing that is kept up is the lawns. They look like such big lonely places. So cool though. They probably all had such great history when they were full of life years ago.

I find this really cool. Thanks for the idea....I may try this. Although I realize that it will take a year to complete!

Looks like philly baby! :)

Update on my first post...
I deleted the App and reloaded, sign in, and it’s connected now[emoji106]. Now I just have to get the balls to try it on my new MP. [emoji12]

Its owned by some sort of Korean church

I use djigo4 only when I need to make changes I can't do in litchi otherwise it's litchi for mission and manual flying. It's just a program I am comfortable with and seems to be more solid with my android devices. I do use a Mini2 exclusively but find the androids play with litchi better than djigo4.

I bought Litchi during Blk Friday for apprx $14. As mentioned, the Waypoint feature sets it apart and as you are flying a mission you can direct the camera at whatever point you desire as a Waypoint. I prefer to plan my mission directly on my iPad and what appeals to me is I can make height, direction,POI's,waypoint changes “ on the fly” plus you can save your missions as noted above

I purchased the Litchi app over 2yrs ago and used it a few times with my Phantoms, but I can’t get it to link up with my Mavic to try it out....[emoji37]
Bought my MP over a year ago and have used Litchi for most of its life. Smooth flight for great smooth videography.

Litchi is much better pilot than me. I can relax, sit in a chair and enjoy the flight.

One of the primary purposes for which I bought my drone is photogrammetric modeling; without a long-winded explanation, creating 3D models from overlapping photo sets. So this brings up 3 questions I have with regards to Litchi (I had more, but it's late for me and I forgot them):
  1. Can you set up the flight path to automatically take photos at multiple given points? (I'm slightly unclear on this)
  2. Will it manage the camera throughout the flight? (I need photos that are literally straight down to the ground; will the camera try and adjust itself between shots?)
  3. Are the photos it takes georeferenced? (i.e. do they have GPS points embedded in/associated with the image file?)
I'm not trying to sound condescending with anything I'm saying; I know most people here might be familiar with different terms (georeferencing for sure) but I just wanted to make sure I'm clear on what I'm asking. I would love to have a drone app where I could basically design the flight on the ground, press "GO" and it does what I need (I know nothing is that simple, but you guys know what I mean). Is Litchi what I'm looking for, or will it at least be a step in the right direction from the Go4 app?

Thank you guys so much!

P.S. I've said before that I'll try and post updates on research projects I work on, but if anyone ever has any questions feel free to message me. I can talk about my research for hours haha)

if u use litchi on a lower grade phone or tablet it works muchhhhhh better than djigo, on my android phone dji struggles and glitches all the time, litchi is smooth and works way better, also as mentioned litchi offers way more freedom for panos, i have been experimenting with many different setting on litchi and it opens way more than dji go can do, i havent used waypoints mission but i may try it soon, for me the pano features are worth the price

The answers to all your questions is yes, but to be honest, you are better off using Pix4d or DroneDeploy. The apps are free and take pictures for free. You can program a grid, double grid (better for modeling), or orbit, and the gimbal will adjust to capture oblique photos as necessary. The whole flight process takes only minutes and the drone doesn't stop between photo captures. Process them however you wish if you have your own software. I just flew two missions yesterday with Pix4d for a water tower and main line reconstruction and it is currently being processed against RTK ground control into a point cloud (using Pix4d trial period at the moment). And yes, it is as simple as pressing 'go' to do all of this. Taking off, taking pictures, return to home and precision landing is automatic. The ultimate result is a DEM, high res orthomosaic, 3d model, or contour map. It's actually quite amazing to watch. In our trial run we were obtaining elevation accuracy of less than 0.10 feet.

As said, the real value is for many waypoint AND taking various pictures based on items you want photographed from different angles. PLUS, you can stop the drone on its path take a still shot then resume flight and video-ing. You set the entire trip up on a laptop or tablet before leaving home AND use Google Earth. I bought mine 1/2 price on Blk Friday Sale but worth it at full price

I bought a Mavic about a month ago and the online mission planning feature of the Litchi Mission Hub was a big factor in deciding to add a Mavic to my drone fleet. The POI's are a great feature that I've used on mission planners for other drones. But the new fly relative to ground feature of the mission hub is the coolest feature. No more having to create paths in Google Earth and importing them into Litchi.

I am having a problem with Litchi that I hope someone here might be able to help with.
It seems like my video transmission range is severely limited in Litchi vs. the DJI Go 4 app. I get video freezes lasting several seconds or more when only venturing out 1/3 to 1/2 mile, whereas with DJI Go 4 I can fly in the same area with no problem and can go out *much* farther with perfectly smooth video.
Does Litchi somehow change the video transmission parameters, or something? It seems very odd to me that the video range would be any different between the two apps. Once I fly closer with Litchi, the video freezes stop and it gets smooth again, so it doesn't seem like a problem with the device it is running on. Any suggestions?

One of my friends uses Pix4d for photogrammetry and modeling (not just with drones); some of the results are really good! Between two departments at my school, we actually have access to 4 different modeling softwares, so one of our smaller "poster projects" is running the same batch of photos in each software to examine the differences. Does Pix4D allow for drone control within the program itself? I hadn't heard of Drone Deploy, so I'll check it out too.

The resulting models are phenomenal! Last summer our team had a drone specialist who did basically everything you mentioned; we had imagery and DEMs so accurate we could see out bootprints in the sand. Amazing! It's what ot me interested in this stuff. He liked to fly manually though; kind of an intense guy. I'm trying to make it a little easier on myself haha

I hear this mentioned a lot. Is this just a better app than dji go 4? If so, what is so great about it? I’d like to check it out but don’t know if it’s worth the money for me.

I use Litchi all the time with my Mavic Pro. It is the best. I like that I can set a mission on my computer, iPad, or phone, in advance of heading out to fly, then after lifting off, you open whatever file or mission that you have saved, and the MP flies the entire mission. It has numerous choices, RTH, or do nothing at the end of the mission and waiting for your input, audio updates of altitude, etc. I rarely use the DJI app anymore.- Don J
