Local data mode

At times when I am trying to download updates, I get a message that I cannot because I am in local data mode even though my iPad has Wi-Fi. How do I go about fixing this?

USER PRIVACY CONTROLS​

You can change your privacy preferences at any time by simply toggling the “on” or “off” authorizations of the specified item in the “Settings” page found in the app.

Any data transmitted between the DJI Fly app and the cloud server are encapsulated with the HTTPS protocol to ensure secure transmission. You can also choose to enable the Local Data Mode (LDM) function - which severs the communication between your flight app and the server.

What is Local Data Mode (LDM)?​

Activating “Local Data Mode” will turn off the connection between your flight app and the internet, akin to flying offline. In doing so, the app will close all data services and prevent sharing of data, even inadvertently.

You will have to download and install your updates or turn off Local Data Mode.

Concur. LDM makes radio communication between the drone and controller/mobile device/flight screen a closed and private loop... making sure that naughty DJI spy camera can't phone home and it's been doing a good job of it since 2019.

Yes, as Jaja6009 says, it also blocks updates and map services as well. Tap the toggle to 'off' and re-start the app to enable your changes.
