Long time Droner, now licensed and ready for take-off

I started with drones back in 2011, strapping my gopro to an OG phantom, then moved to heavy lifters for film work, both crashed by other pilots I hired. Now looking to fly myself starting with an Air 3. Hope everyone is well and crash free so far this year!
Yup, fingers crossed 🙂

A big welcome to the forum from the UK!

Welcome from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, USA. We have a Member's Map in the Upper Right of the Title Bar. Click on "Members" and then Click on "Member's Map…" Check it out and you might find some new flying friends.

You started a long time ago as a flyer and depending how current you have remained, the laws have changed a lot in 15-years… If you were Orville Wright, I would tell you that you can no longer fly under bridges or chase cows across the field, etc… L :D L . . .

You mentioned that you've hired others to fly you drones in the past. If you intend to do it all yourself now and your use of the expression, "film work," implies a commercial venture and you will need a Part 107 Certification for that… Of ot's just for fun, then only a TRUST Certification is needed.

Below is the link to all of the downloads offered by DJI for the Air 3.

After you read all the material, read it again, you will be surprised what you missed the first time and you will be better prepared for that first "scary moment…"

Good Luck and Fly Safe and Crash Free…
