Lost my DJI mini 4 pro

Unless using the 249g batteries, the mini 4 pro weighs more than 249g.

And, seriously, has ANYONE ever gotten stopped, while flying, and had the officer pull out a scale and weigh the drone?
And, seriously, if an accident occurred, and you hadn't registered your drone (as required if your drone weighs more then 249g) are they going to find you? And are they really going to nail you for going 2-3 grams over? (They "could" but would they?)

Lol true. I am using the flip now with the tag it could be 251 oe 252 but ill take my chance

No it's tiny

Regardless of it's size, the lightest one I found was 14 grams which puts you past 250 grams. Which now to be legal you have to register it and supply a RID device for it.

The weight varies by model, but they can weigh as little as 5 grams.

I put a tile tracker on mine. that way when you get to general area of GPS you can alert the tile and it makes a racket for you to find. not expensive, good investment

What one are you using?...I got Apple I tags, but you have to be really close for it to work and it is not loud at all

It likely varies slightly by drone, but in most cases, added accessories will easily push it over 250 grams.

I've done this but it's not a good idea. I do not see why darkness would affect RTH, unless your RTH altitude is too low.

Tip. Because of the low visibility at night RTH is not recommended.

It could very well be in a tree or on a roof that altitude is from the takeoff point so not really useful to you.If you didnt see it on the ground it probably is in a nearby tree or roof.

Simply that your sensors do not do well in low light conditions. RTH is already very questionable during times with adequate light. Trying it at night is to me Very foolish.

I myself can only think of 1 good reason for the RTH feature. The pilot becomes dizzy or injured in some way that bringing the drone back with RTH is the only way to land it.
Why exactly is there a return to home? The Drone should be right there in front of your eyes...Correct, and using an RC controller is no feat of strength so if you are tired after some flightime I would recomend a Doctor!
The safest way would be to fly the Drone home yourself don't you think.
There are some that will say RTH violates many Regs and should not be a feature. I say its a great thing to have in an emergency IF you have a BVLOS waiver.
If you need to use RTH it means you have lost site or orientation of your Drone and that means without a waiver you are now flying illegally.

I would think that using RTH would be about as safe as flying for yourself.
I don't use RTH myself, but can't see that there's anything questionable about it.
It's a very reliable feature and has saved many drones when the flyer wasn't as reliable as they should have been.

I have used it when I had a waiver and both myself and my spotters lost site of the drone for a moment. I DO NOT rely on "features" to fly my expensive Drones either and I think its a bad way to fly. Its like learning to Drive with a Tesla.
Most novice Drone pilots choose DJI for their first Drone and these features Promote BVLOS flying in my opinion.

RTH is something that made me buy my Mini 4.
Not because I fly out of sight (which I do) but because, for some reason, I can't get my brain to swap directions when an RC vehicle is coming towards me.

I have a dumb drone and I've tried flying it. No more than even 100 feet away and still manage to crash it each time.

I normally don’t even have my drone set to RTH on loss of signal as I’m often flying under a tree canopy. The only time I change that setting is when flying over water when hover or land are poor choices. So I’ll be one of those that is flying my drone home manually and enjoying the challenge of piloting. (If ‘nose in’ is too challenging you can always fly back ‘nose out’ which keeps left and right control movements the same. It’s not as if the drone gets aerodynamic lift but inconvenient if you need to see where you are going!)
The RTH warning is enough to put me off using it, though I have applied the Silencio hack to my MP1 remote just to shut up the other annoying messages and wish that something similar was available for the M4p that didn’t involve disassembly of or damage to the RC to apply.
