Hi from the norther part of Germany,

Do M4PRO owners actually have problems with oxidized contacts on the batteries?
I used the drone for four weeks in Norway (I've had it for five weeks) and just noticed that I have a problem with it. I've just notified DJI about it, so let's see what happens. The damage is also in the loading station, I think the charging current is too high.

kind regards Carsten

Any possibility that snow, humidity, or moisture of some form might have gotten onto the contacts while they were in the hub?

Yep, think the same .. but I am not sure how it can be happen. Maybe fabrication failure.
It might be a good idea to get a pencil torch and a magnifying glass to have a close look at the contact pins inside the body of the drone. They're probably okay, but it won't hurt to check.

Whoa, that is not good at all! Do you have more batteries that are not doing this or are these your only batteries? Also, how warm is the room in that you are charging and are you letting the batteries fully cool before recharging?

I’m going to keep an eye on mine now…

I had 3 drones at my holiday with me (Avata 2, Air 3 and the M4P). All 3 were save in my motor home, except the M4P the other drones are ok.

And … it was not wet inside my motor home. I had unforeseen over 30 degrees Celsius in the northern part of Norway 😡😎

Thanks for the info. I think to get into finding the cause, it might be good to pin down things like how many charge cycles do the batteries have, how low were they discharged after a flight, things like that.

Maybe 5 cycles and not less than 10 Minutes of flight time

wow...that solidifies my thinking that I should use the slower charging but have not done so yet. I will leave fast charging for when I absolutely need it :). Dunno if that's the cause but it seems likely. if it was just one battery I'd think it just the battery. It may be a defective charger but to play it safe I'll start slow charging. I'm doing a 600mi or so loop for drone photog and video tomorrow and just about to charge my drones so thanks....

I don't think it's likely at all.
You'd need to hear of more than one incident to decide that there's a problem with the charger.

I use the 240 watt charger.
With just over 100 flights, my five batteries have approximately 15 charge cycles each.
No sign of any corrosion on the battery contacts ... everything looks just like new on mine.

Correct -The third Batterie has no issues and always loaded together with the other ones. I will call DJI today, I will keep you Informed.

Plastic can also be made on "Monday". I want to say from my own experience, anomalies occur in the casting, injection molding of plastic. In this process, they use old ground plastic and add unused raw plastic! It is difficult for me to express myself professionally in English, because Google does not translate professionally. If the plastic is of poor quality, which happens during injection molding, the production series is reduced or eliminated, or not?

The pictures show the color change of the plastic, which forces me to think more broadly about possible defects due to the influence of salt in the air due to the sea. The problem is a cold battery before use. If the batteries are colder and the air is very hot, every surface is moistened with moisture in the environment.
The moisture in the environment can carry salt impurities, so... In addition to the above, high temperatures during charging bring the result seen in the pictures.
I would return these batteries and not use them. I would demand new ones!!!

MOST IMPORTANTLY, check the inside of the drone, where you insert the batteries! A drone in the sea means no drone.

Short info:
Dji is acting as expected, I enquired again this evening and they are sending me new batteries and a new charging case. I can then dispose of the defective ones...

But I haven't got it in writing yet... more information will follow.

Definitely no moisture, I had unexpected good weather in the northern part of Norway, I fly only in acceptable conditions. The batteries have leaked, what you see there is electrolyte from the battery, i.e. a defect!

Why? I have no idea.
