Hi I’m Guy and I am 75 years young hence the OldGuy logo. I have been building and flying model aircraft since the 50’s. First with control line then with R/C from the 70’s through to the mid 90’s. I stopped flying R/C as it became too intense for me.

Enter the drone:

My wife bought me my first drone a H501S about two years ago. Great for beginners. When the new M2Z came out I bought one last October and have enjoyed flying it ever since here in southern Spain where I live.

As well as the M2Z I have a 7.85 CrystalSky Ultra monitor and the Epson Moverio BT 300 glasses. I will most likely be making comments on these in the near future if anyone is interested.

At the moment I am having issues with the CS and Waypoints 2.0. I keep getting the “GEO zone detected. Unable to take off” message. I am in a GEO yellow zone but able to fly normally and use all Intelligent Flight Modes with the exception of Waypoints 2.0. Also if I use any other mobile device iOS or Android I can fly Waypoints 2.0. The problem therefore seems to be with the CrystalSky itself which is a surprise as it is a DJI product!? I am in contact with DJI Support who have been very courteous but so far no solution.

As a last resort I have downloaded the Litchi app which allows me to fly their version of waypoints!

I will follow your problem. I use the CS with my M2P and have ever had the problem you describe.

Thank you for replying to my thread. I assume you are in very bright sunny clime as I am in the south of Spain hence the CS monitor. iPhones and Android tablets etc just don’t cut it down here in the summer. It’s far too bright for a normal screen.

If you do not have the same problem as myself I assume you are not flying in a GEO yellow zone?

It is bright and hot here... highs 108- 120 degrees F.

As far as geozones, my most common take off location is actually inside the edge of NFZs for 2 regional airports. AirMap will work for me getting LAANC and it works almost instantly, but I got tired of doing it every day I fly in my practice area.
So using the FAA’s DroneZone website I requested LAANC flight clearance for a 4 square mile area encompassingmy take off location with the two NFZs The folks were very responsive and helped me do it correctly. So I got my 30 day clearance and FAA sends you an email reminder when it’s time to renew, which I have. The renewals are already filled out and you only need to change the start and stop dates (up to 30 days inclusive).
I have never had my M2P with CS refuse to takeoff in either of the circumstances above. All software is stock and up to date. I never ask DJI. I do my requests on my iPhone XMax, but never fly with it. I have never run a Waypoint mission though.
Hope this helps
