So DJI has officially announced the Mavic 4 Pro announcement. From the announcement, they are really putting a lot behind the fact it will ‘spin your world’. Sure it is neat the camera and gimbal rotate a full 360 degrees, but how will people use that? I mean you can already do that effect in post edit. Really the only time this looks good is when flying FPV. Am I missing something unique about this?

Someone will get creative, I'm sure. I see a lot of 360 in the FPV world but it's more of a stunt than something cinematic but I'm sure the ordinary drone world will fine something new. I agree pretty much anything can be done in post but I understand a lot of drone pilots probably don't have time to find out how beautiful Davinci Resolve is and the wonders it can do for your video so "features" are being driven down to the drone. Hopefully the newly designed gimbal will make things smoother and will iron out some of the smaller issues we currently have on the 3-axis. I don't like the idea you can't yaw the gimbal while the drone continues to fly ahead, I miss that on the Mavic 2 where you could press and hold on the screen and move left/right. The entire drone rotating just looks weird.

Touch, hold & drag to yaw the gimbal is available on the Mavic 3 series.

Yeah but you'll have to crop out almost half of the picture. Not the case if the camera itself can turn.

Still will likely be a gimmick to add something "new" to the feature list, but people will use it anyway.

no way a gimmick for shot's like this, now I will not have to crop as much and will make for a larger print.
