Hey Everyone, I'm new to this forum and recently bought a Mav Air 2. While I've picked up most features/concepts quickly, I still have the following questions that I'm hoping you all might be able to assist with. I really appreciate your help!
  1. What are the megapixels associated with the "Smart" photo mode?
  2. Why would someone take pictures in "Single" photo mode instead of "Smart"?
  3. In Camera settings on the DJI app, you can take photos in either JPEG or RAW+JPEG mode. When I choose RAW+JPEG, I was expecting that when I took a photo I'd see two files (JPEG and RAW) on my SD card. However, I only see one file. Am I missing something here?
    1. If the RAW+JPEG option is being consolidated into a single file, how can you differentiate it from just the JPEG file? I've taken both a JPEG and RAW+JPEG photo and they have the same metadata/attributes when I review them in Lightroom.
  4. Does the Mav Air 2 have obstacle avoidance while tracking a subject?
  5. When creating a quickshot, the DJI app automatically assigns a song to the clip (there appear to be a few different songs that the app may assign). Can you replace the music of this Quickshot clip with another 15 second clip?
  6. How does the Auto Sync HD Photos setting work? It's not entirely clear to me what is being autosynced and when.

If you are shooting raw + jpg, you will have two files for each shot.
They do not get consolidated.
It sounds like you don't have any software that can read the .dng files.
If you use Windows explorer to show what's on the SD card, does it show the .dng files?
You need specialised software to read the raw files.

Yes it does, but remember it doesn’t have side or top sensors.

I think what is not answered yet:

1 - Smart Photos are 12 MP
2 - Single Photo mode allows the user more control over the settings and is probbably best if you want to post-process the images (or AEB). Smart photo is good for those who basically want to point and shoot and get a good image out of the camera without doing much/any editing afterwards.
5 - I've never used the app to edit videos, so can't help you, with in app but you can download to a computer where it won't have music (or the DJI logo) and do whatever editing/adding of music you want.
6 - Photos taken during flight will be synched to the phone in an HD resolution. It may not be the same resolution of the original photo on the card (you can download that). In the Go App on other drones, this didn't always work properly, or sometimes took a while after landing to sync everything if you take a lot of photos. Have not tested it yet in the Fly App.

The HD photos auto-sync'd to the phone are the same resolution as those on the card. The level of detail is the same, but for some reason they're not pixel perfect - there are extremely small distortions on the order of 1 pixel that you'd have to specifically look for.

Here is an extremely zoomed in fragment of a 48MP picture taken by MA2; I pulled the file from the SD card, pulled the file from the phone, and cut out a segment out of both.

(ignore the EXIF, I've downloaded the photos from FB Messenger, where I've uploaded them a week earlier to show the same thing to a friend).

Spot the difference.

Thank you! Yes, I uploaded the pictures from the microSD card to my computer and can see the two separate files in Lightroom. What's surprising is that when I called into DJI customer service, they told me that there would only be one file when shooting raw+jpg which seemed wrong. It's unfortunate that DJI customer service provided inaccurate information about their own product.

Welcome to the forum from the beautiful woods of Maine!

Perhaps Technical Support is the appropriate people to contact.

Unfortunately that's not surprising.
DJI's help people are a lucky dip.
Sometimes you will get god advice, but complete misinformation is also common.
