Can anyone please explain, step by step, how to link/connect the DJI Goggles to the Mavic Air.
I am baffled by the lack of clear instructions on this.

That is NOT correct, you do not need an OTG cable. This is correct. Use USB OTG cable to connect micro-usb cable into goggles with USB into bottom of RC.
Your goggles need to be on the latest firmware, you might need to update them using DJI Assistant 2 on a PC/Mac computer.I'm plugging into the big USB port on the bottom of the controller. It shows battery life and connected but no video. Just a blank DJI logo

Most likely because the Goggles are primarily for the Mavic Pro w/OcuSync which is wireless. The product description does say you need this cable for use with Spark and Phantom 4 I believe.... why wouldn't it of came with this cable? Ugh.
Have you tried DJI Online support?UGH... it got hung up at 53%... the USB driver keeps malfunctioning and windows says it's unrecognizable. I've uninstalled the software and reinstalled... I'm not sure what else to do here. Tried 3 different computers same behavior
Anything plugged into the side plug will disable the bottom port.I'm having issues too. I'm plugging into the big USB port on the bottom of the controller. It shows battery life and connected but no video. Just a blank DJI logo.
So I'm suppose to connect to the side of the controller? I bought the combo from DJI w/ the goggles... why wouldn't it of came with this cable? Ugh.
I wonder if any micro USB to female USB adapter would work? I'll have to head to best buy to find out.
FYI, it's only possible to tilt the gimbal via the head tracking feature.Using the Micro USB Cable (again NO OTG Cable needed with Mavic Air) you will have full access to Goggles’ features including head tracking (be sure you enable Head Tracking Flight when you want to use this feature).
