While perusing YouTube I came across this. Anyone else try something like this?
Mavic Air can do a 360 flip and also a 180 flip (upside down) & still fly.

Easy; hold it upside down, start motors, and just let go!

That's not possible without the magic of video editing ;)
May I ask, why is it not possible...Lucy, got some explanation to do....

There’s a little piece of hardware in the aircraft that understands up from down. If it isn’t in the correct orientation, it won’t cooperate.
However, maybe if you dig around inside the hardware installation area and flip that particular piece 180 degrees..........................................
I’ll get my tool kit out.

The video title includes "Foolsday Joke", so as others have already said, it's not real.

During the flip, the blades would have to do one of the following
1) change their propeller blade "pitch" (the angle of the blade) to the opposite polarity, or
2) the propeller would have to change its rotational direction (near instantaneously)

Otherwise, it would speed right into the ground when upside down!

This.
The Mavic is not like a collective pitch helicopter that can change the pitch of its blades on the fly.

Go buy a Syma X5 and do all the flips you want!

They do make "3d" quads that switch the propeller direction very quickly and can generate lift upside down. They're hard to fly though.
Want to spend some time upside down you need to join us in FPV :)

And I've seen a few phantoms that are retrofitted with FPV gear, but it takes the control board away, so the camera doesn't work

You can also "Hack" the software so that it does not "Power Down" when the aircraft is tilted over but that's a whole other topic and still doesn't solve the problem with LIFT going towards Terra Firma when the aircraft is INVERTED.

Why would you even want to flip an MA? Sounds like a big repair bill. Get a Tiny Whoop already. Way cheaper and when you can't fly outside you can fly inside. They can roll and flip too. IMO it also makes you better pilot because you don't have GPS to rely on. AND...they are really fun :)

I fail to see ANY worthwhile purpose for this feature. Possibly, DJI wants us to try it and crash the drone, and need to buy another one? Completely useless features!
