So, my Mavic Air was tracking a human subject who then decided to walk underneath an awning/roof. The Mavic lose sight of the subject, flew across the roof and took a hard dive (sudden drop of elevation) onto the roof. It managed to stabilize and went back to its initial flying elevation. The drone was flying few feet above the roof to begin with. Why does it dive without acknowledging the solid rooftop if the sensors are activated?
I assumed that it tries to dodge obstacle or change elevation to continue tracking its subject. If that is the case, shouldn't it stop and hover when obstacles are present right beneath it?
