Mavic Altitude questions

Mavic Altitude questions :

It appears from the few flights i have under my belt that the altitude and altitude limit is based on the altitude between me, the pilot, and the drone and not necessarily the drone the ground. Is that correct?

I plan on going to Colorado next month where I will be flying in the mountains. is there a way to change the settings where the mavic will fly 400 ft above the terrrain below?

Wherever you take off from, is 0 feet , as the drone sees it.

The drone only knows its altitude relative to the altitude of the take off point.

You can set the maximum altitude to whatever you want (up to the maximum of 500 meters).

It will be up to you to make sure you comply with whatever rules are in place where you are flying in terms of altitude above the ground.
