Hi all,

I would like to share my experience about my mavic where i lost RC control during flight. I take off using my phone. The issue happened while I was hovering about 4 feet, about to land, tried pressing down on left stick. but mavic is not responding.

I panic.. worry it will go higher and I cannot reach..

I forgot to do the phone landing..

What goes in my mind was to grab it by hand and wait it go run of battery.. funny.. but it was strong and fighting to fly.. I panic again.. if i let it go.. it will go higher..

And by this time i remember to land by phone. now i cannot reach button because my other hand is on the aircraft.

Holding it hard not letting go.. the blades spins strong..

What goes in my mind is to bring it lower while holding on the aircraft. and remove the battery.. and i did it.. it shut down.

Very dangerous.. but its my second time flying this new mavic..

Hope it never happen again.. anyone have this experience? what to do if lost RC control. how to regain control.. shut down remote and restart remote?

Thanks.

Yes, you can just power off the RC and start it again, I would also be re-linking the AC and RC before your next flight, so it does not disconnect in the first place.

Or u could've tilted the drone sïdewäÿs n it would've shut öff...

You are lucky, everybody should stay away from the props! Your fingers doesn't cost as the Mavic :)

I guess the drone refused to land because the "Assisted Landing" (or something like that) was enabled in the GO4 settings. With that switched on when you go for landing the drone will stop hoovering around 2 feet off the ground and pushing the stick down will do nothing at that moment. That's because the drone is not feeling safe to land there. In the manual is told that you will have to push and hold the stick full down for a few seconds to "tell" the drone this is safe place for landing and it will descend on its own and land.

Another thing is that you have to set the RTH settings to serve for safety in a case of lost signal and I'm checking and setting that before every first flight on particular location. There are 3 options there, on lost RC signal to keep hovering (I use this when flying interior), to land on the spot and to return to home by going to a certain previously set safe altitude and fly back and land on the spot it initially took off (good GPS signal is needed for this).
When you know all that you'll be confident that you can switch the RC off, which will definitely trigger the RTH mode. But the idea is to restart the RC and reconnect to the drone.
If restarting the RC doesn't solve the problem and the drone is in your sight then better wait the battery to deplete and it will then land on the spot.
