Mavic Mini Fell From Sky... No Reason

Hey Guys,
DonsterDude here in Goodyear, AZ. I bought a Mavic Mini about 2 weeks ago because of all good things I've heard about it. DJI has always got good reviews. Everything was working great until yesterday when it fell from 100' for no reason. Tough little guy there was no damage however this has me very concerned as I fly over water a lot. I haven't pulled up Flight Logs yet but the camera was rolling all the way to recovery from neighbors roof.
What causes that and how do we fix it? Also, what's up with the build dates in March 2017 regarding the Mini?

welcome to the forum not sure what you mean about build dates in 2017 as the MM was not released till 2019

Welcome to the forum and hate you had yours drop but it didn’t drop for no reason. There had to be if not from you doing a accidental
motor shut down or something that we won’t know till you download
your flight logs as was posted. Almost sounds like your battery was
dislodged but have not seen that issue yet with the Mini.
As far as fixing it let’s see what made it drop first.

Hi there & welcome to the forum ?

As said earlier, the flight logs stored in the mobile device you flew with will most probably show what failed.

As you perhaps are fresh into the drone world you might not know about these logs ... there are 2 of them that can be read by us, both are stored in your mobile device. Go here & read up on how to retrieve them --> Mavic Flight Log Retrieval and Analysis Guide (read under section 3.)

Start up by attach the .TXT log from the flight here in a new post ... if the .DAT log is needed we ask for it later, but it can be good to copy all those locally to your computer as soon as possible, this as the .DAT can be auto deleted if the logs are synced to DJI servers.

Really recommend you to read through that whole post ... it's good learning

It was probably built before the release date. I doubt they built it on or after the release date.

Just a couple thoughts: a warped prop from storage can cause a motor to overspeed leading to loss of control. Also, recently heard about a new Mini being flown without updating its original firmware and crashing for no apparent reason.

But it’s highly unlikely that anyone outside of DJI would have known about problems with early builds 7 months before it was released.

I'm not sure what your point is. Are you suggesting that the guy who's Mini crashed had the drone before the release date?

The flight log for that flight simply is not there. Maybe the impact screwed it up IDK.

Not where?
A crash won't make any difference to the .txt file that the app records.
Go to DJI Flight Log Viewer | Phantom Help
Follow the instructions there to upload your flight record from your phone or tablet.
That will give you a detailed report of the flight.
Come back and post a link to the report it gives you.
Or .. just post the txt file.

I was pointing out that the Mini wasn’t even released until October 2019 so no one except DJI could possibly know anything about Mini builds in March 2019.

I think @DonsterDude knew the fact that the manufacture date came before the release date, hence, the question.

I’ll stick with my original comment that I’d be surprised if anyone outside of DJI knew anything about the Mini seven months before it was released. At the point in its development, the firmware and Fly app were probably full of bugs - that’s what development is all about.
