Mavic Pro Battery Mod

HaHa! It was like yeah whats that attached to your drop mechanism! A Mavic?

It warms my heart that all you ******* revel and gain pleasure in others failures. You know deep down watching my bird flail and crash in slow motion made your day at my expense. That's fine, go ahead and be haters... but remember me next time you crash and burn.... karma :)

Oh I enjoyed it but only because it wasn't my turn yet. I'm sure sooner or later the bay will swallow my Mavic!

Change to add wires + 2 xt60 is much better...

Added weight the wires and 2 xt60 is 20g, with dji battery total: 226g.

for the copper piece is is 0.5mm?

Yes, I have some of that tape and it is paper thin and you can tear it with your fingers. I only use it for very low watt circuitry or shielding as stated by LightSpeed. I don't think it can be used for our modding needs. Better to use copper like in the picture on the right. You can grind it to fit your needs with a dremel tool.

You can get it from here:
Solid Copper Wire Strip 1/2" x 24 gauge 3 Feet
It will be enough to last a life time!

Airdata UAV - Flight Data Analysis for Drones

4000mah Multistar LIHV. Battery clip, not soldered. I will try for 18km total distance flight soon, no hover. Will probably be the limit for this setup. Estimate is 36 mins @ 8% Next up is the 5000mah on order.

Strange thing is, this distance is way beyond the stock RC specs. Lots of signal errors but still 3 bars on DJI GO and no breakup of video transmission the whole flight.

Japtastic, my input is this- that's a nice flight that will make the board at 26,000'. It says your top speed was 21mph? You should be able to go faster and therefore cover more ground if that helps!

Cheers @TheLightSpeed! this was full throttle in GPS mode so maybe I will try modifying my GPS speed slightly faster.

I and I think everyone else is using this. Holds things pretty good.

Dual Lock: 3M UK & Ireland

Thanks!

Yeah me and DB were talking about reducing the speed in GPS. It's like cruise control. Unless there is a little wind.

I'm bringing my MacBook into the field for just that.

The flighttime is insane...is this single 4000??

@TheLightSpeed!
I used nanosync boosted. Only brought 1 set with me (on vacation).
Had 1 signal breakup behind landmass but when back in radio LoS the downlink was still 80% at max distance. Stock i normally have 1 bar less.
@Ed209
Yes i will try both again when winds calm but winds are crazy here, only had 1 shot that day.
I did take off with tailwind component pushing it a bit.
The 5200 is not the way to go if you want to push beyond 40.000'.
This was the only flight beyond 11km i made back with this setup.
The flight was from the porch of the house we reside in this summer so kids always running around. Was comfortably seated with a mojito;)
@beanbubba, @CyberNate
Gambling, yea!
I know i will lose 1 some day. It will happen but i know in this company i will not feel ashamed to admit i screwed up unless i endanger others doing it.
I always encourage people to push limits over wasteland or water cause you only can lose a mavic when things go bad.

@Maclak Yes, single 4000 on the roof. I'm really impressed by it, slightly discharged to 12.85v as well. I really think it's a very good power/weight ratio.

These were my notes when comparing batteries to order:

Turnigy Nano-Tech Lipo 1300mah = 119g / x2 = 2600mah = 238g
Turnigy Nano-Tech Lipo 1800mah = 161g / x2 = 3600mah = 322g

Turnigy Multistar LIPO 1400mah = 115g / x 2 = 2800mah = 230g
Turnigy Multistar LIPO 1600mah = 150g / x2 = 3200mah = 300g
Turnigy Multistar LIPO 2200mah = 195g / x2 = 4400mah = 400g
Turnigy Multistar Lihv 3000mah = 188g / x2 = 6000mah = 376g

Turnigy Multistar Lihv 4000mah = 265g
Turnigy Multistar LIPO 4000mah = 320g
Turnigy Multistar Lihv 5200mah = 318g

A good example of where not to run the external power leads.."Compass error"
