Mavic Stuck in Beginner Mode

Hi, ever since the latest firmware update (inc the NFZ data) my Mavic seems to be stuck in Beginner mode - it won't go above 30m or away more than 50m. Very frustrating. No end of turning beginner mode on then off, rebooting everything, etc, has fixed it. Any ideas folks?

I've got a related, odd behavior. I've configured both my Android phone and my Lenovo tablet to work with the controller. Everything works great with the tablet, but when I use my phone (more convenient) I get the altitude and max range limitations of Beginner Mode, even though the app does not show BM enabled. (I haven't used BM since my second day of flying.) What the heck does the display platform have to do with the flight mode?
