I've noticed that if I'm flying around the back yard and hit RTH, the moment it detects an obstruction the drone cancels RTH and wants to land on it's own. I'm able to take control again but the RTH function is no longer available.

Can anyone shed some light on what may be occurring with the canceling of RTH?

If it is approaching an obstacle, of course it's going to stop and cancel RTH to avoid crashing into the obstacle. Seems quite obvious. It is close to the homepoint (closer than 20 meters) then it might try to land on its own.

If there is no obstruction/obstacle in front of the drone it shouldn't cancel RTH by itself.

Important: Make sure to set your RTH height higher than any building/high obstacle in the area to avoid the drone crashing into it while RTH/Failsafe

Haha
You need to set rth altitude to 100m learn the settings…

It will stop if obstacle avoidance is set to brake, otherwise it will attempt to go around the obstacle.
