I was under the impression that my M4P would not emit RID when using the standard 249g labeled battery. I installed all the firmware updates but the "drone scanner" APP on my smartphone still picks up the drone when flying with the smaller battery. Why is this?

If you previously flew with the Plus battery, which always transmits RID, you apparently have to flush out the RID broadcasting by making a "flushing RID flight" first. Then, on the second flight, it should not broadcast RID.

This is a trap for the unwary, who deliberately select a Regular battery to conceal their location when flying from home, only to still get a knock at the door from a Karen with a Dronetag RIDER!

Best to stick with the Regular Mini 4 battery for all flights if you don't want to broadcast RID. DJI never really intended for people to disable RID broadcasting, after they knowingly enabled it. That's while all the Combo kits are all Plus or all Regular batteries.

How can this be done? I got a used mini-3 pro from another member who used both batteries and don't want it ever turned on. Thx.

Is this really a big fear for drone many drone owners?

How often does it happen? Has there been a single instance described here of one of these terrifying women showing up on someone's doorstep? What did they do that instills so much dread and fear? Talk loudly?

As of right now, it’s never happened to me, and I’ve been flying my 4 DJI drones for years now. Hopefully it stays that way. There’s some pretty crazy YouTube videos of Karens and “Kens” out there !

And we all know that there are no contrived, dramatized, orchestrated, exaggerated, staged or fictional videos on Youtube.

That’s true, but there’s also some with law enforcement involved. And I believe it’s against the “law” to impersonate an officer.

I don't understand. Are you saying the police departments post a lot of Youtube videos? I've not seen any.

Yes, it is against the law (no quotes) to impersonate a police officer, or an airline pilot, doctor, or barber.

So, are you saying that there are NO videos that exist that show true encounters with drone haters?? And no, I’ve not seen videos posted specifically BY police departments, but I have seen some that show a Karen or Ken, having police show up because of complaints made about a drone flying around a park. Or a drone confiscated by a Karen, and the pilot calling police to get it back.

Thank you! You were absolutely right. 2nd time I used the "smaller" battery, the DRONE SCANNER app didn't "see" the drone.
