Mini 4 Pro FAA Registration

You CAN have a drone that you fly recreationally only if you have a Part 107. But it must be flown under the recreational exception. ANY commercial use and it will need to be registered with an individual number like any other Part 107 aircraft. You are better off just registering it in case you happen to need it one day for something other than recreational flying.
100% correct.

I'm brand new to all this and I just purchased a Mini 4k. And I don't plan to do any commercial work with it.

I have a registration/RID question that I'm confused on:
The Mini 4K is under 250g, but I was thinking I'd go ahead and register it anyway.
Maybe I add a strobe someday or who knows what?
However, If I register it, does that then mean it also has to run RID?
That is, if you register a <250g drone, and are a recreational flyer only, does the act of registering then mean you have to run RID also?
(which in my case would be an RID module, putting it over 250g, etc.)

I'm also think I'd like to get 107 someday just for my own education and confidence, so that may further complicate it?

To for now, to summarize:
Can I register my ,250g mini 4k, and NOT run RID?

No. Any drone that is registered is required to transmit RID. So just unregister your drone. As long as you just fly recreationally, you don't need it anyway.

Awesome, thanks.
I thought it'd be a good idea to register, but not if it means I have to then run RID on a drone that doesn't have RID built-in.
Thanks for the help!

Sound advice.

@martinc98 you are mistaken... The M4P has built-in RID, enabled when you use the extra capacity battery.

Alternatively, register and invest in (and fly with) the bigger batteries.

That's what I do.

I've got the Mini 4k, not the 4 Pro. I've seen conflicting info as to whether or not the Mini 4k has built-in RID.
I don't see it listed anywhere in my safety settings - unless it magically appears when it detects the plus battery?

The DJI Mini 4K does not have RID. It isn't listed on the FAA's DOC page for RID.
