Mini 4 Pro Plus battery and RID ?

"Standard" RID is the Built in RID that comes with a drone, and Strap on or added RID Modules or boards do not count.
If the manufacturer includes RID as an operating function of the Drone it is unlawful to "switch it off".

If a mini 4P is registered and therefore must fly with RID, what is the use case for the lighter battery?
I'm not so sure if you register your Min4P you must fly with RID.

So let's talk about how the FAA registration database works. This is the database that will be used to one day to confiscate your drone so it's has flexibility and it is comprehensive. Not all drones added to the FAA database (i.e. registered) have to transmit RID. The FAA has an exception when your drone weighs less than 250g and used strictly for recreational purposes, it is not required to be "registered" but you can still add it to the database (see image of my registration where I added the NEO).

You do this when you one day you wish to attach an external RID module to the drone or you build a homemade drone (without RID) and you will go into the database and assign the two before you fly (if required). In the meantime, my NEO registration (without a serial number) shows ACTIVE and you can see from the ADD function, this is allowed; there is an option to choose RID = NO in the recreational drone portal. Again, I chose to add the NEO and while the Nickname field is not required, I put my drone's serial number in it. Legally I can recreational fly the NEO today with no RID while it is registered. I realize it is debatable whether my NEO is officially "registered" but I'll let you guys hash that one out. All I know is when the FAA comes calling, they'll want my NEO as well; they won't say "keep it, it's not registered." ;)

Yes, Representative Elise Stefanik will confirm the registration just before she rappels down from a black helicopter onto your front sidewalk to take your drones. Maybe today! They know where you live.

You do not know that. It's just another imagined scenario used to stoke fear and paranoia. The NRA used this same confiscation scare as a very successful membership sales tactic. Firearm confiscation hasn't happened. There is no reason to fear federal confiscation of drones.

I just got off the phone after speaking with Paul Hamilton ((844-359-6982) from the Drone Zone Support Center---he answered on the 2nd ring!--and he confirmed if I register my less than 250g drone in my Recreational Pilots Dashboard and I operate outside of a FRIA, it must be RID equipped. He asked why I would register it if a RID would be required. I said to have a way to get the drone back should I lose it. When asked if he recommends I delete my drone from my recreational account in order to not have to add RID capabilities, he replied "Don't worry about it."

You don't have to use RID with a registered Drone, if that drone is 250g and below, and it is a recreational flight.

Is there an FAA source for that? The regulation says that RID is required if a drone is registered.

All Drones "Required" for registration must fly with RID. There is an exemption for recreational flyers under 250g, SO turning on the RID would be your choice really. If its "registered" you are still in compliance if your Flying for recreation without RID..The simple act of registering your Drone doesnt "tie" you down to always flying with RID...... unless the flights are commercial.

Well, I'd hate to see someone get into a bind over this. The regulation says otherwise: "registered or required to be registered" per the attachment in post #63. The FAA website states explicitly that registered drones flow for recreation are required to use RID.

That is only for Drones "Required" to be registered..If you have already registered your "required to be registered" Drone then that also applies. It doesnt apply to Drones that are not "required".
Drones with a weight of 250g and below are NOT "Required" ( You are not "required" to use RID on a Drone that is 250g and below nor are you "required" to register it, UNLESS you are flying Commercial ).
I didnt sign away my freedoms to fly without RID when I registered my mini, I simply made the option to use it available to myself. (you cant fly unregistered commercially either).
When flying for money I use it, If I'm just racing around at the park...I don't.

I'm just quoting the FAA. I'm not up for an argument, but they seem to disagree with you.

Which Drones Must Comply With Remote ID?
Drones which are required to be registered or are registered, including those flown for recreation, business, or public safety, must comply with the rule on Remote ID.

I am just "interpreting" it myself I'm not the FAA But Thats how I read it, I don't think I am violating any regs, not using my RID on the weekends. Most Drones dont really give you the option and RID is just there (unless you use the regular battery Not the extended, in some cases.) My Cinelogs have an option to use RID or not. dji its either on or off its not your choice really.

If you are a recreational pilot flying a "Required to be registered" Drone (one over the weight) you would certainly need to always use RID.

It says "comply with the rule."
It doesn't say "must transmit."
There's little difference for most of us.

Yes, you can be in compliance without transmitting RID if you have authorization from the Administrator of the FAA or fly in an FAA-recognized FRIA.
You can still comply with the rule by taking advantage of the exception which permits you to forgo transmitting.
