I'm curious to hear more about what the status of the kid's injuries are. Firstly, I wish him well in recovery!

With that said, the initial report said transferred to the hospital with a minor injury. The picture shows some dried blood around an injured nose.

The "fighting for his life" headline appears to be due to... emergency heart surgery? I'm unclear of how the two things are related. I'm wondering if something existing was discovered as they were evaluating him.

I hate that the headlines appear to be sensationalizing this without full details confirming the drone injury and heart surgery were actually connected.

EDIT: New information from other sources now reflects that he was hit in the chest and one of his heart valves was damaged. Yikes. Wishing that family all the best :(

Ditto. I was thinking exactly the same thing. I was writing as your post popped up.

Horrible to hear such a story. Thought and prayers for everyone involved.

The drone light show was reportedly put on by Sky Elements Drones. A company by the same name (I am uncertain if it is the same operators) competed on this year's AGT.

Reportedly, one of the drones hit the boy in his chest. I believe the blood coming from his nose was due to the chest injury.

I hope the boy recovers fully. I hope Sky Elements has good insurance.

The article said he was hit in the face and his lip was bleeding.

Yes, that was the same company that was on AGT.

The drone show was flying over people? Seems like a lawsuit. Maybe people were in a marked off restricted area, but I imagine a lawsuit might still be coming.

Many drones were not just coming straight down like most drone failures. They were going in all directions, like some kind of interference like jamming. The one video shows it coming into the crowd many yards away from the show.

I hope the child pulls thru and my heart goes out to that family for sure!
Those Drones are WAY too close to those people and pretty heavy too! Those Arora Drones weigh 900 Grams!!not very smart at all!

This is a horrible occurrence
See PREVIOUS post for a possible prediction of the tragedy,

Back in the good ol days My friends and I would go out to an old farmers land and fly our RC airplanes!
He was a great man and he taught me to build The same Balsa USA Smoothie over and over till even today I think I could Grab some scrap ply and balsa and piece one together without prints lol.
One day, years later we all Traveled to the Farm for our weekly Mini Airshow only to be met by our old friend with a sad expression on his face.
He then told us of something called an "insurance company" and that Somehow even tho the land was his, This "insurance company" had told him that he could no longer let us fly while on his land.
Very sad day indeed.
I don't know why I am remembering this story right now Hmmm.

That is a sad day. For a long time now, if you make a flying site an AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics), flying site and agree to abide by their rules (not difficult), they will not only insure and indemnify you, but the landowner as well.
Maybe the farmer’s insurance company would have sold him a rider on his policy and the flyer’s could have covered the cost?

It was a way back. I mention it only because With Stories like these getting headlines, I can someday in the Future forsee this happening with my Drones. The insurance people could make it hard for you to find a private place to takeoff and land in other words.

First, as a father, I can only imagine the stress and worry of the family as they worry about their child. I truly hope for all involved that the child involved has a speedy recovery.

I am also not a fan of drone light shows, and I think there is some really bad planning such that a failure would result in having drones land on the audience. This is unacceptable risk.

I hope those injured will be ok. The company responsible for the production has harmed them, and the industry.
