You should be able to just swap the cable from the RC over to the new phone and turn on DJI Go4

I use a Android Galaxy S8+ and a iPad Mini 4 , no problems with either one swapping back and forth. But with the S8+ I can use a Aux charger pack and charge the controller while it charges my S8+ . This cycle of charging keeps both[ Phone and controller} happy and warm and can give me endless hours of flying. The iPad mini 4 has a pretty decent battery as well so no worries of running out of juice in the middle of a flight.
