Just a quick question to you all.
I was wondering if any of you have ever experienced motor failure? Would you say this is a real potential issue or is it highly unlikely to happen? It's something that I must admit plays on my mind whilst I'm out flying.
I'd love to hear your thoughts and even experiences on this. Thanks.

Of all the things that could go wrong, I personally would place motor failure near the bottom of the list. Very simple, extremely reliable. The most unreliable component of the MP is us - the pilot - so focus on that and have don't forget to have fun too! Do your proper pre-flight checks, maintain VLOS, and follow the rules the best you can, you'll be fine.

If it was an issue you would see plenty of posts on it. You have a better chance of a prop failure. To prevent that just check seating and signs of damage before flying.

Look how long rc truck motors last. They have a pretty rough life with dust, dirt, mud, water, shock loading. I would say motor failure is rare.
That's an absolutely brilliant analogy. I've never thought of it like that.
Thanks for the great input.

Motor is solid unless u have crash them so many time. First failure will be pilot mistake setting up the flight setting, secondly pilot error controlling the aircraft, third failure is pilot error storing the battery, the four is pilot error using third party component and software. The rest are aircraft issue which will be rare.

I've built and flown multi-rotors since 2010 and have never had a motor failure except 1 bearing started squealing and needed replaced on one of my larger crafts . The ESC motor controller is more likely to fail and cause issue but the Mavic has smart technology that monitors such things so even that is highly unlikely . As others have said it is we the pilots that are cause for most Mavic failures and a good pre-flight routine for inspecting props , arms , etc that can not be monitored by the electronics is the best crash prevention .

I have had a motor failure. I own a Mavic2 pro for two months and the left rear motor just started failing then stopped completely. luckily I was not in the air at the time but during my last flight I did hear scratchy noises coming from that motor. I have not had any crashed and have not mishandled it in any way so i was very surprised at the failure. DJI Care does not extend to the Caribbean so i will need repairs. any ideas?

Be sure to check the motor for any foreign body in it. I had this once and found a bit of plastic loose in the motor. After removing it the drone continues to fly perfectly over the last 2 years.
