I am just a newbie, but I find DaVinci has a ton of ability for titles, transitions, audio, and multiples of everything.I have an Air 2s and starting to get more into video shoots and would like a good option for video editing. Looking for something different than the built in DJI one (lightcut app). I would say I am intermediate skill in video and usually shoot in D log or HLG. Thank you for any help!
that all depends on what you want to doI have an Air 2s and starting to get more into video shoots and would like a good option for video editing. Great suggestion. Very useful little keyboard with a jog wheel as well. You also get a license for Davinci Resolve Studio with the unit. Excellent deal.Get the free version of DaVinci Resolve, but also do yourself a favour and buy the Speed Editor which goes with that editing suite. there are excellent training videos right on the DaVinci Resolve website, or Black Magic, on how to use the speed editor.
It will make editing Sooooo much easier and faster. It is well worth the few hundred-dollar investment and is wireless, so no cables connecting it to your computer.
Every now and then if you buy the Pro version of Davinci Resolve, they throw in the speed editor for free, so watch for that too. I also have Premier Pro and DaVinci has a much lower learning curve.
I too, like G Fields, use Adobe Premiere Pro. That is the one I learned on and I have managed (as mentioned here in the forum numerous times) a nice discount by calling Adobe directly and just asking for a better price. I use Photoshop and Lightroom for LR Timelapse as well ,and I get the entire creative suite (over 50 apps, most of which I will never use, but love PDF maker) for a monthly price that I can afford. Creative Cloud all app $29.99 a month on a yearly basis.I use Adobe Products. They are costly, but the best out there IMHO
You are still spending out almost $360 a year and never owning it. The day you stop paying the ransom is the day you won't be able to use it at any time in the future.I too, like G Fields, use Adobe Premiere Pro. I went through all of these decisions, and since my main interest is photography, and that I have been using Photoshop, Lightroom for over 40 years (when it was possible to own a disc of the program). With the full Adobe suite, I have the benefit of calling for live Adobe support with screen sharing, in India which is excellent for Premiere, as well as the other apps. These support guys are brilliant and they have never failed to help me, especially with video editing. I also got interested in LRTimelapse which incorporates Lightroom into the program. I do a ton of timelapses so I love having ownership of Lightroom too. I understand the $360 a year ( which is half of the real price after my negotiations with Adobe), but I can afford the $360 a year for Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge, Premiere, Adobe PDF. with the support day through night 5 days a week. The support provides screen sharing by the Indian tech. It is $12.00 a month for Photoshop and Lightroom alone, so for another $14.00 I get the tech support and the use of all of the photo apps I am used to, have learned well, and provide me with editing not available in other software's such as powerful masking tools, and AI photo editing including generative AI to complete parts of an image that did not exist (such as cut off feet or head). You are still spending pout almost $360 a year and never owning it. Not so if you actually bought and owned the software, such as DaVinci. If you get the paid version of it, you can use it for ever and you paid less than a years of ransom charges from Adobe.
MarkHey @Dale D ....what kind of computer are you using?....I had to get a new computer about a year ago and since I got it, loading photos and videos has been a nightmare trying to find where they got stored....point is, I have a decent computer, but I don't think it would handle that much work...photography has not been as much fun since this problem started....I think Photos Legacy has been the cause
Oh I completely understand Dale, and it is good that you have no problem with paying out over $1,400 in the next 4 years, if they don't choose to raise the ransom. I have also had Photoshop for many years but bought my last ownership copy at 6 and it still does a great job. I also have Topaz and ON1 RAW and it also does layers and generated fill in etc. as does Photoshop and you get a year of free upgrades but if i want another future year, the cost has been from $65 to $79 for a year.I went through all of these decisions, and since my main interest is photography, and that I have been using Photoshop, Lightroom for over 40 years (when it was possible to own a disc of the program). To summarize- I am getting Photoshop-Lightroom- Premiere live support with screen sharing. Lightroom to use with my timelapse LRTimelapse software, Generative AI editing in Photoshop and Lightroom, the use of powerful masking tools which allow me to individually edit dark foregrounds with high dynamic range drone views, and I am paying $29.99 per month, plus getting the use of Adobe PDF to create and to fill in PDF forms, plus many other Adobe apps. if I want to create my own web site, CAD (designs), Bridge to help sort and edit thousands of images, Media encoder, AI to creates stunning graphics, etc.
