Need help to get a refund

(Bought fly more combo from apple) I was thinking to do a final test flight before returning this drone along with DJI Refresh as I started to like MA more but thought to give it a try and it turned out an utter disappointment. The distance between MM and controller was hardly 230m when it gave me lost connection error, second time. I decided to go for RTH and right then it said "disconnected" and then I found this wreckage.
Need advice on how to tackle this to get the full refund (Is it a mechanical failure that might be covered under warranty?). I am willing to pay $40 for replacement but they won't replace the battery and purchasing a new battery at $49 would cost me (40+49 + Refresh)= $125 for nothing.
Here are the flight records for experts to see if it'd fall under mechanical failure?
Any help is appreciated.

i think it was crash on a building, losing the video signal is not a big problem when you fly among the buildings, but when you activate RTH you must be sure it is set corectly the altitude, otherwise the drone will hit a building and will fall down

sorry my friend but what i think, would be better left unsaid here, how do you expect to get a refund if you do not get the drone replaced it needs to be as it was when you purchased it and that includes three batteries and all in the original packaging

I hope an expert will assist you (that’s not me), but looking at your data you took off with only 4 satellites so there is a good chance the Home Point was incorrectly recorded, (did you check it on the map?), this would increase the chances of the drone colliding with a structure when it attempts to return to its take off Home Point (not the true take off Home Point).

Did the drone hit the Premier Casino (its looks to be a tall building)? If you trace the drone path in RTH you can see it’s flying back the the ‘ghost’ recorded take off point.
are you taking bets on that theory

I don’t think it would be fair, maybe the Casino would give better odds ?. For the record I flew my Mavic Air into the side of a derelict building while been persuaded by marauding sea gulls! So I can hardly give advice ??

I think it hit it and crashed later on but I don't know what actually happened. (in the DJI app fly history) It just said that downward sensor not working (maybe it tried to land) and then it crashed right there.

Oh I'm going to get it replaced (and maybe keep it if they don't accept the replaced part as a return) but my concern is if I need to use my DJI Refresh or it'd fall under "Manufacturing Fault" category and they should replace it for free (considering blank screen with downlink error and downward sensor error).

you Can see the drone drop in height very quickly in it last seconds of data recording, it hit something. You need to keep sight of the drone when flying and be aware you are in a built up area with lots of other WiFi interference. Also be mindful of your Rth setting too as it needs to be higher than objects or buildings around you, so if it does auto return it will ascend high enough to clear any objects.

I’ve never heard of any company ever offering a refund having replaced a faulty unit!

Make your refresh claim and keep it or see what you can get back from a private sale on new replacement AC + original accessories.

It’s worth nothing as is. I can’t see Apple giving a refund on a box of broken parts.

Your best hope is DJI might repair under warranty if it was a malfunction.

Send it in to DJI. It’s no use speculating on whether you will get a refund. They will assess it and determine whether it was user error or a warranty issue. If user error, they will then give the option of getting it repaired or give you the option of using your Care Refresh. My bet is that it will be cheaper to use your Care Refresh than have it repaired.

Good luck.

Chris

How many sats would you recommend before a safe take off?

you need to wait till the screen says its ready and the message the home point has been recorded please check it on the map, you will find that normally happens at around 8 to 10 sats

Ouch.. you have 2 broken arms, 1 broken battery, a broken gimbal and propellers. The Outer case in the front seems to pry open. This is what is visible in the above picture. The drone itself is a complete loss. The DJI refresh is what will save you here, nothing else, unless you can prove that it's a manufacturing defect or some software glitch and not operator error.

Worst case scenario, you fly only with the two batteries that you have left, if you do not wish to pay for the third one.

Why 11? 7 is sufficient and depending where you are on the planet and time of day you may be lucky to get 10. Yes, on most (almost all) occasions I will have 12+ but as a rule if the app reports home point recorded I’m happy to fly off, I know there is a good chance RTH will work as expected if there is a connection loss.
