New Aussie Mavic Owner - Weak signal issues

I'm on the northern beaches near Manly and haven't had any problems. I'm using a dedicated Samsung Note 4 in my controller and never put it in airplane mode, but will be trying it. In Google maps you can download maps to your phone so you don't need to be connected to the network. I don't know whether you can do the same thing on iPhones.

UPDATE: i took the replacement out this morning. flew perfect. got to 1000m before i chickened out and came home. strong signals for everything.

funny thing is that this one has the gimbal skewif, its leaning to the right maybe 10degrees. i had done a gimble auto calibrate aswell as a compass calibrate before hand so i guess i have to make some sort of manual adjustment ?
also noticed that the RTH point was like 3m away from where i set it. my first one came home within an inch. im guessing thats just a poor home point set at the time but i hadn't changed my process from the last time. anyway...not a big issue.

seems to be quite a few QC issues with these things. they're certainly not perfect out of the box. where do i find the build date for it ?

EDIT: you can put in the S/N for your drone, controller, battery, and gimbal.

Just did my drone and it was made on the 21st March 2017 and my controller in the 9th March 2017. Didn't do the battery, or gimbal.
