First, Welcome to the forum from the deserts of Arizona! Enjoy.

For. Clearance:
Try the FAA’s DroneZone. They may be able to get you clearance if LAANC doesn’t work for you. Folks are helpful and you can get a renewable 30 day clearance for a specific defined area... I have one that is over 4 square miles (my practice/test area). Used it because of an airport within 3-4 miles of the area which does not participate in LAANC yet. They will communicate via email. Took me 2 days to get it.
Your drone will need to be registered with FAA first, info/link is on the page linked

Thanks. I will take a look however I'm pretty sure there is nothing I can do since I live less than a mile of a military air base.

Go to where you can fly and just do It !!

I'm going through all the registration stuff with the FAA right now. I ended up paying the $5 registration fee. There is alot of regulation out there to get lost in, although not all of it applies to me.

So it turns out that everywhere around me is in a no fly zone, including my house. Cant even get permission to fly where I'm at so I cant test out my new Mavic.

I am also in Maryland (Frederick) there's lots of unrestricted air space here. Actually I live within the five mile radius of the airport and have been using LAANC with no problems at all. Where in Maryland are you? If you ever want to come up my way I would be happy to direct you to some gerst spots for flying.

I am in Lexington Park and I was running the Kitty Hawk app which supposedly has a quick request button for LAANC if you are able to request approval in your area. However anywhere I click on the map, I don't get the option to request authorization. I just figured my area was not on the list for approval areas, since it has a pretty active air field nearby.

If your area is in controlled airspace, you'll be able to see that on the Kittyhawk map. There's no need to attempt to request FAA authorization if you're not going to fly in controlled airspace.

I have been using Airmap only so I'm not familiar with Kitty hawk. I looked on a map and you are with in the DCA restricted air space, close to Washington DC. I think that may have something to do with your lack of options on Kitty Hawk. If you want to see a detailed map of what I'm talking about you can go to the Skyvector website and it will show you terminal area charts.

Unfortunately you may have to do some driving and get out of controlled air space. The air space around DC is very restricted for any kind of flight.

I just looked again and have a question. Are you in the Lexington Park in PG county or the one by Lusby Md? If you are by Lusby then I was mistaken in telling you that you are within the DC Restricted area.
