New Mavic Activation

Purchased a new Mavic Pro. Couple of questions:

Main goal is to get the MP flying and not have to do any firmware updates.

1. Is activation required before (a brand new) MP can fly?

2. If yes, is there a way to do it without an Internet connection?

3. If on-line activation is required, will I have to also do a firmware update at the same time?

So I guess the initial activation will not MAKE me do a firmware update, and I'll have the option to keep the existing version. Not sure DJI changed anything due to all of the recent, uh," activity".

Right -- they could change the process at anytime. They've never forced firmware updates to be installed in the past though.
