New Smart Controller - Strange Stick Reaction

Hi all, I recently purchased a new (to me) smart controller and I am trying to understand if the stick behavior I am experiencing is normal. When pushing the right stick all the way forward, the drone will accelerate forward at about 5 mph in normal mode or 12-15 mph in sport mode. However, if I push the stick forward about halfway, it will accelerate forward at full speed.

Is this a normal stick reaction or does it sound like something is off?

I'd just recalibrate the SC. See if that solves the issue.
