Nfz strikes again

New m2z flyer here, Tried to fly in a restricted area only,nfz came up, another pilot with a p4 flew without a hitch,b4ufly showed just out of restricted lines,still nfz where it shouldn't be,Any thoughts other than go fly some where else

Don't fly in an NFZ is the correct answer, but you're welcome to post more details of where you were attempting to fly if you want a more specific answer.

I did talk to him,handed him my controller,and he was baffled,I am in Vermont at Shelburne Bay,part of Lake Champlain by Burlington down on the west side of the bay,shows nothing but yellow restricted evan at the edge of that, gonna reinstall go 4 and flyb4 and if I can reset m2z

Thank you,my app did not show this version,it did mention the Shelburne airport which is inactive especially in the winter,even talked to the Atc at Burlington intl.airport ,and he says there are quite a few of these little airports that are not in use.Still puzzled since the p4 pilot had no problem,he is a 107 but said that shouldn't matter,oh well.

That's because the DJI Geo system is a little more conservative than the simple airspace regulation. That location is in Class G airspace under a 1500 ft Class C shelf, but not within 5 miles of an airport. It is under the approach to Shelburne runway 19 though - hence the DJI authorization zone. You could have self-unlocked that.

You can contact and ask that DJI update this area to reflect a non-operational airport and they will determine if it can be removed from thier GEO-Fencing.

Others have had success by just explaining to DJI that the airport is not in use.

It's not non-operational. Seasonal perhaps, but they won't remove it for being seasonal.

Ok then thank you for berating me , don't need it, I'm trying to learn and do everything right, I'm starting from scratch and learning alot that I never new about, reiterating that another gentleman w a p4 took off and flew at 400' taking video of the frozen bay and fishing shanties, which is what I wanted, bummer,I'll eventually figure this out with constructive comment and suggestions.

Not berating you at all - just pointing out that there is much to learn about flying these things.

I am the same way. I have read and reread the manual both before and after I had problems with one thing or another and always try to figure it out myself before posting but there are a thousand places to look and it seems everyones experience is different. B4UFLY should only be used as a reference in my opinion. It in no way has any connection to your particular flight besides being a reference. Go to the map on the DJI GO 4 app and slide it until you get it at the place you want to fly and then check to see if you are really CLOSE to a nofly zone. If you are then apply for a license just in case. That in itself is supposed to be easy but it took me three days to get it straightened out! And I still don't know what I did. As far as the P4 being able to do it, I could see me a month ago saying the same thing. Now a month later, I would just say that he has a different aircraft, remote, and probably a different software load and all that could make a difference. Just the nature of GPS even provides for an error of so many feet. So now I would have to ask you what close was. Was it 10 or 100'. I'm sure @sar104 wasn't berating you because he was just pointing you to the beginning reference for the question. Take everyones experience as a good starting point and weed out the ones that don't apply and then try to figure out differences in your situation and someone elses and be as specific as you can about your particular problem and sooner or later you'll get the answer that you need.

I am happy to report that paying closer attention to the barely visible boxes I was able to fly today by Shelburne Bay, paying attention,no small aircraft and entering the unlock code ,Hurray one more little mtn. climbed .

maybe the p4 piolot had a modified bird that eliminates the nfz all together, since u stated he was 107 i doubt he was modded but u never know
