Hello all,

Fairly new drone pilot. Just got my Mavic Pro after flying a Parrot Bebop 2 for a short time. Short time being a total of about 3 months. I've had it since August but after dropping out of the sky and being destroyed, it took Parrot 3 1/2 months to replace it. Then on the second flight, the new one dropped from 100 feet. Enough was enough. Went for broke and bought the Mavic.

After a couple of flights I'm really impressed. No disconnects even at longer ranges. Parrot would disconnect when I went above 150 feet and 150 yards or so. Video quality is awesome although I'm still learning it's settings along with all the others.

Looking forward to taking the Mavic on some near future trips..

Looking forward to learning more...

I love Tucson. Lived there for 20 some odd years before moving up to hell, er Phoenix area (Chandler). If the job market was better down there I'd probably move back lol. We head down there all the time. Any decent areas around there to fly? Had thought of Catalina State Park or Foothills(?) Park?

Heading down to Tombstone towards the end of March. Hoping to get some good video of Fairbank and it's old Cemetery.

Welcome to MavicPilots from Dayton Ohio! Fly safe and have fun!

  1. Can't fly in State Parks, but I live near there... I fly at the Rail X Ranch, which is state property and very near where I live... lot's of wide open space... you need a state permit for these areas but they are not expensive. Lot's of areas around Gate's Pass, other than the park itself, and I also like to fly in the areas around Lost Dutchman State Park. Mt. Lemmon is also OK if you stay away from sightseers.

Welcome to Mavic Pilots! I'm just up the road from ya, in San Tan Valley... bordering Florence.

Was down at the rc air field off of Ironwood this morning and meet a Mavic Pro Platnium pilot here on visit. Only had his MPP for a week. Sat him down and walked him through the settings in his Go4 app. Really surprised me to hear him say "I never even seen those". So don't hesitate to ask should you need a little first hand guidance getting 'er dialed in.

Where is the rc air field? I was down at a park by Ellsworth(?) elementary school this past sunday. I know there's Rittenhouse Air Filed near there which was from what I understand used for RC flying at one time. However it's fenced off now. I flew my Bebop around the edges of it a few weeks ago. Looking to take my Mavic back there and actually fly over it.

Right on Ironwood just before the dirt track, on the left (coming from 60). It's East Valley Aviators field... gotta have an AMA membership (insurance coverage purposes) to fly there though.

Edit for FYI: The field will be closed this weekend as the EVA club is hosting a fixed wing event.

Okay, joined today....Looking forward to heading out there....at the moment, heading down to the Tombstone area, looking to shoot some great videos and some awesome flying.
