Official Mavic Pro Range Leaderboard!

I was actually thinking about that after I posted this comment. That might be with the one thing that will affect us. Healthy drones is a great way to lay it all out there and show that the flight is legit versus screenshots. Will just have to wait and see what people experience. Air data may just be off-limits!
And I still have a couple of each of the P2 series just waiting their turn, they made some amazing flights but they still got something to prove. But just in case this long range thing is going to be a thing of the past everybody better get out there and try to take that number one spot so they can go down in history[emoji41]
Personally I think it's going to be Phoenix in the morning. If his AdD will allow him to keep his attention and he stops playing around with buttons and looking at girls were flying, I mean squirrels[emoji41]

So what's your goal tomorrow? 45,000? Looking forward to your results.

I'm goal is to make it back this time. I have a pair of 2700's I've not tried these before so I'm not sure what I'll be getting. If anything there will be a video of it. I'm going to have to raise my cap. I think I figure out why I'm having to go so high there is some tree about 1/2 mile that I'm having to shoot through If I keep it low. it's after 20000 or 25000 that I have to start climbing. I've told DirtyBum this place is next to perfect. I shown this place to lightspeed. he did some real good with his P4. The direction I'm flying is good for 20 or 30 miles. Nothing but flat ground undeveloped well farming. Alfalfa.

I was just looking over my data file from today , looks like my peak is 32.5 to 33.5 mph. If I go faster it's using to much battery. with what I had today my best bracket was 8005 ft and used 10 % battery. at 34.24 mph it drops drop to 6755 ft This is averaging each 10% battery usage.

Guys,

Is it best to use sport mode when going for distance with the stock setup? Ideal speed for efficiency?

thx

I feel discussed and discouraged!
I haven't yet confirmed with my buddy Dig but it looks like curiosity "killed the cat", or in this case, the Mavic! His mavic named fly fly might have been reduced to brick brick!
This would not be the first a/c our pioneer friend Dig has tried radical experimental fw procedures on only to find a damaged and unusable bird, but I bet this one stings!
Let's all wish Dig and fly fly a speedy recovery[emoji17]

I created a VM so we can all forever downgrade to 400

Sounds like an awesome spot. I've got one like that myself I'm going to on Friday. Good luck to you this morning I hope you exceed your goal.

I guess I'm glad I'm at .400

So I went out for a long run today. I reached somewhere around 44,500 feet, but I had very bad signal today. Somehow my flight log just stopped recording at 30,626.8ft out, perhaps because of the poor signal? My last entry in the flight log has me out over 30,000ft with 69% battery remaining. Is there another place to extract the log, perhaps off the Mavic itself? I pushed the mavic to 46% battery before turning around. I had a STRONG headwind come on and at points was only going 13mph. I think on a good day, 50,000 might be possible. This was with my dual 4000mah LIHV batteries that I just received.

Here is where my flight log cut off

You can get the data from the sd card onboard. need to use dji asst. 2 software. I did it a few times. there is a thread somewhere here showing how. I tried to upload it to airdata and it was to much data I tthink for it.

When I used to use android, I would fly record flights and then get back and DJI didn't have any log at all. The worst part was if I would've went down I would've had no idea that my flight wasn't being recorded. Usually App just crashes and you have to open it back up and then you get two different logs, the first one will say no GPS on the DJI log and you won't be able to sync it or healthy drone it. But I've never heard of flying and having it just stop without the app crashing, given you no indication of when it stopped. Only have had it not record the flight altogether.
This is why most of us distant flyers take a screenshot right before the turn around. I don't does it show that you went that far, gives people an idea of what your signal strength what altitude you were, etc.
of course it's no proof that you actually made it back

DB did you make it or buy it.

I just put that together out of spare parts from some other tripod stands that pro charge 97 has built me in the past. Turned out pretty good and rocksolid

I'm using an Ipad mini 4. This is the second time this happened to me. No crash, just some spotty signal and an "RC disconnected" message. The other time it occurred, I had good signal and it just cut off at around 50% battery remaining. That time I uninstalled the app and reinstalled. I'm normally an android guy, but I've had so many app crashes and frozen OS where I have to restart the device that I decided to buy an IPAD mini 4. It works really well except for these 2 times out of like 300+ flights.

My crashes on the iPad mini two for some reason usually happen around the same mileage 25-30,000 foot or so, and it goes from everything's fine, back to the home screen on the iPad. Then I just re-open the app. If I was getting the gray disconnected issue I would immediately assume that I was dealing with a loose cord, or bad USB or sync port. It is frustrating! It sucks when you're out 10+ miles, there's no room for error

Ok I thought it was known but with the android you have to reboot the tablet or phone for the data files to show up.

Yes, I got the file from Mavic and it's 326MB. Airdata won't accept it and https://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/Upload/?id=-2 just crashes.

Well good flight anyway, you'll just have to cut your losses and re-create it again tomorrow! At least you got your bird back this time! It's gonna be interesting to see if that little Mavic can hold up with a couple 4.0s! How many flights can it take.
Hey Nate you mind posting a couple photos of them strapped to the sides so we can see how they ride

I keep the tachometer/power below 80% and usually between 60-70%. I don't push the motors too hard this way and get the maximum efficiency out of the batteries. I don't see any issue with running 4000mah batteries as long as you don't push the motors beyond 80%. This means you need to be careful with ascents, reducing pitch and also not flying in excessive winds. I had to slow to 13 mph at points to keep the tach below 80%. Great thing about going into the wind is I can always turn around and ride the wind back. I had low wind going out until half way out, but once I got close to the bay, the wind picked up drastically, but I managed by motor speed to avoid stress. On the way back I went 40mph all way and only used 35% battery for 44,500ft, leaving mavic at 11% (turn around at 46%).

Here are the pictures. Yes, they are HUGE compared to the 3000s
