Basically here's the problem with the Phantom: It's a big flying pillow.

This is approximate in flight attitude, minus batteries. Mavic tucks batteries neatly underneath and the fuselage streamlines decently.

This sums up why the Mavic will fly 121,400 total ft, climbing over 1100" and do it with 109Wh of motor power.

I'd still like to see one of those secret phantom .dat files to convince me why the Phantom has efficiency potential.

Lolo has his setup so that it flies with near zero lean. You see how his horizon is at the zero point? He minimizes the frontal area and uses front props as a wing which are basically flat. The rear props are doing nearly all the forward thrust and have high pitch 4.5 props. Pretty sweet stuff! With 4s he can shoot for 200K total distance at relatively high speed.

For comparison, my mavic needs 170ish watts on average for flights at that speed. His needs only 109W. Big difference!

And the best part is DJI built in rear tilt via the folding mechanism. I simply removed the metal detent hinge and lock the arm upwards. Fine tuning is done with shim washers under the motor mount.

For reference again the Fastenal part number is 71051 and you need to open them up slightly to fit over the bolts.

Huh! Well, with the Holidays and @JakeMaxxUAV being very busy, hopefully not very much longer. I posted mine up over a week ago, but like I said, Holidays and All! I can't really speak for Jake but we just try and be patient and I'm sure he will get to it ASAP!

Hey lolo does it take weeks to get a flight posted on that other board? Honestly after posting a flight and waiting soooo long to have it updated really takes the thrill away!

Jake not sure if you will take this or not understandable. Been having bad luck with my data files from my phone either it is deleted or today my app frozen up but before it froze it shown drone disconnected. I was 8400 ft out and only thing I had to go from was the LED from the controller. My video on board did record the full flight. This file is from 12.19.17 I flow out to 46617ft and back no problem. the problem in I had 25% battery and went out for a quick short flight. ended up running out of battery and losing the data file on my phone. this is the data file from the drone. Used datcon to convert it to csv file. Ground is flat nothing over 20 ft except for power lines. running just a battery mode ( plug in from you (very nice)) main battery and 2 protek 3600 sidesaddle. look at line 8478.

I'm not an expert but even I can tell by this file that you flew out to 46,617 feet and back to home point, then went back out to 8,763 feet and turned around again to come back 186 feet short of home point.

yes android and today like I said my app froze up I got a screen shot after I landed(I cant seem to get the keys right to do a screen shot while flying).

I'm glad it did not happen 8 miles out. I've done 4 miles out with out a camera but had a compass ( arrow) showing which way is north. with just the led there is no compass just speed and distance. at first I thought I lost it. then I seen on the led the distance was moving in.
