First off, FAA regulations are understood.

Question: From a technical perspective, could you not enhance the effectiveness of the dish-type metal, reflector, slip-on accessories by GROUNDING those metallic reflectors to the drone’s controller circuit board?

I am not a technician but It would seem to make sense with the only barriers being an external, visually acceptable and non-intrusive method of connection that does not compromise the DJI warranty.

Am I in error on the technical side of this and has anyone applied this grounding idea on any drone system?

Alright let’s mod em thread. I remember when they first started using them on Phantoms and I tryed everything except that. Even went as
far as rigging a turkey pan as one. That was a sight .?
Sorry had a flashback.?

i dont think that what you propose would make a lot of difference ,they are just parabolic reflectors that concentrate the signal from the antennas in one direction
of course i could be wrong in my assumption

Grounding the reflectors would have no effect. Visualize the reflectors as a parabolic mirror. The mirror would reflect light if it was grounded or not. Like @old-man-mavic says, it just concentrates the signal in one direction.

Grounding them would cause all the signal hitting them to flow to ground, not reflect off.

I've never noticed any need to improve the performance of my cheap reflectors.
They work very well as they are.
