Yes, after you gain confidence in your craft you'll be able to relax more. The drone doesn't know it's over water, only you know. It flies the same. I've never had a DJI drone failure after 4 years and 6 DJI drones, but sure, it can happen, it's just rare. I always try to avoid flying near people for this reason, as the liability can be much greater than $1500 if the worst happens. Craft cost is not on my mind much, due to the limited liability.

I would like to find some fellow flyers to work on more sophisticated video shots and in general hanging out. I fly a zoom, an air, a tello, a couple of quads, a mini (soon) and a bunch of rc planes and cars, i am a member of Trabuco flyers rc club and live in orange, anyone want to get together, have a cup of coffee go flying in the oc area?
I’m always looking for people to fly with. I’m in the Newport area. I have an Air, P4P, and Zoom. Haven’t flown in that neck of the woods before. Irvine Lake would be nice. PM me.

Just saw your post from July, I've been away form the forum a while. YES, there's lots of good places to fly around YL. PM me and I'll share my data. I record notes and locations for most all my flight areas.

Do you ever fly off the cliff in Orange above Serrano just East of Cannon? Nice spot.

Your M2Z can fly all the way to Irvine Park from that cliff, and over to the Santiago Creek reservoir. Nice flight area with good shade from big trees.

Hello looks like it’s been a long time since someone’s posted on this thread, but since I’m new worth a shot, I’m wondering where I can safely fly my DJI drone for fun. I’ve visited a few local parks in Mission Viejo and noticed a sign that says motor vehicles are prohibited i’m assuming that means drones as well.. I got a DGI mini five pro for Christmas looking for some ideas to go and fly. I’m also down to do any meet ups if anybody’s interested I live in Rancho Santa Margarita.
Hi neighbor. Welcome. There are many rules to follow in US and OC.Have you taken the Trust certificate and registered your M5P with FAA? That would be first on the list. Orange County parks are restricted depending on interpretation of the law.
No person shall possess or operate any radio-controlled or other remotely operated model, toy or similar device, including but not limited to cars, boats, rockets, airplanes or gliders, in any park, beach or recreational area except in areas designated and under conditions established by the Director. Any person convicted of violating this subsection shall be guilty of an infraction.
City parks will have their rules to follow,
In Laguna Beach you cannot fly a kite on the beach.
Wildlife areas and nature preserves are prohibited.
I would be willing to meet or chat if you have questions. You can DM me if interested. I am a part 61 and 107 pilot. I also have the Muni 5 Pro and a Mavip 4 Pro.

Hello, thanks for getting back to me! I took the TRUST test and got my certificate. I bought the Fly More combo with the flight time of up to 36 minutes, which is where I’ve seen some confusion online. I think I don’t need to register it since it has the smaller battery?
