Permission to fly in Cyprus

Hi guys and gals, anyone know where or how I go about getting permission to fly my mavic in Cyprus. I have seen a few posts where police have confiscated drones where permission was not obtained.

Anyone had any issues, hostile or otherwise in Cyprus?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

I wouldn't know, however being Greek myself, I'd try to talk my way out of it!

Your best option is to ask the DCA directly. (Department of Civil Aviation) There is a form you need to complete and obtain the permit.

Just submitted a form to the aviation authorities, waiting for a reply, one I have a reply, will let you know what's what.

It was suggested that a hobbyist drone pilot needed to do a course with 360iFly, as far as I know, this is not needed! Just submit the form to the Cypriot authorities.

Note the rules for recreational do state that drone users should have been trained, but it does not specify by who or what! Having said that apparently some drones have been confiscated when users/owners have not been able to provide a license or proof they have been trained to fly it.

Nope, not needed, as long as you are confident, if you are commercial, then yes, but hobbyist...No not needed

There are quite a few, do a buggy trip to Akamas and blue lagoon. Troodos mountains and Aphrodites rock, Cape Greco, St Hilarion Castle, Kyrenia and Kolossi Castle to say but a few
