The wife and I are taking the mavic pro out to USA Parkway on Saturday to video and photograph the wild horses. There's hundreds there and all over here in Northern Nevada. Pictures will be used to create a special metal print and a coffee mug for my boss who recently got promoted to a director level position. She's been a dear close friend for way many more years than she's been my boss and has ridden in the Reno Rodeo since she was a teenager. She's got kind of a special thing going on with the horses and I want to make something special for her.

It'll be the first time doing wildlife. Tips or hints anyone?

The mods will probably move your post to Photo's section..

The Mavic tend to washout the picture quality
when you get on sight Play around with the Preprogram color setting to see what will give you the best picture
Personal I will use (TrueColor)

Shoot in 4K video then you can pull a pretty decent still off the quality Video.
if your looking for that Once in a Life time shot You might have it in there
then trying to Take one shot at a time over and over.....

Never fly with less the 20% battery

Maybe use full zoom to be as far away as possible so as not to spook them?

I have done a bit in Southwest Wyo. The best thing I've found is to hover quite high and change positions frequently because the drone makes them nervous. Takes awhile but they get used to it and will present a good shot. This is true with most all wildlife in my country. Best around water holes or when they shade up during the heat of the day. Dont try to keep up with a moving band, they won't quit and it is illegal and immoral. Good luck!
