I tried putting the Plus battery I have been using in my Mini 3 Pro and Mini 4 Pro in my new Mini 5 Pro. I found that if I put the 5 Pro in Normal mode and accelerate, I get a "Battery Overcurrent" warning. That goes away when I slow the drone down. The battery is a refurbished OEM DJI-branded one I bought on eBay, and it works flawlessly in the Mini 4 Pro. If I fly the Mini 5 Pro with the standard battery I have been using in both older drones, I get no warnings. The eBay seller insists that the Plus battery is not compatible with the Mini 5 Pro. Has anyone had any such issues? Thanks for any responses.

Different battery specifications in the same shape battery case. A recipe for disaster. There was a thread on the DJI forum where someone ran out of mini 5 pro batteries so put a battery in from either a 3 or a 4. It didn’t end well for the drone.

DJI recommends only using Mini 5 Pro batteries in the Mini 5 Pro because of the higher 8.6 volt charge required over the 8.4 volt charge on all prior Mini versions. Using any other battery can result in low voltage notifications and potential power shutoffs in midair, as well as spontaneous autolanding.

Thanks! I will order more Mini 5 - specific batteries.

DJI has a NOTE (near the bottom) about this on their battery compatibility page:

View attachment 186778
"Note: Batteries from the Dil Mini 4 Pro and DJI Mini 3 series may physically work in the DJI Mini 5 Pro and allow takeoff."

"However, their maximum output is lower than the Mini 5 Pro's battery and, in harsh conditions, the aircraft may display a "Power Insufficient" warning."

"This pairing has not been compatibility-tested and is not recommended."

Good I looked here, I was going to order the Mini 5 Pro and use my Mini 4 Pro PLUS batteries now I'll wait, I can only fly one drone at a time and I don't need or want more batteries to take care of..

The Mini 5 batteries are evidently designed to allow for great current draw in some conditions, as in with strong winds. It is about more than the voltage of the battery.

The problem is that the Mini 5 batteries are difficult to find for sale unless one is willing to take a chance with Amazon which is known for selling counterfeit batteries.

Extraordinary times have called for extraordinary measures and I've had to broaden my horizons:
