The FAA has the responsibility of managing airspace. And the FAA is a government entity.

Yeah. I thought we the people were the government and they were our servants. I don’t want to get ugly here. Some people like being told what to do, some people don’t. If you like the rules, good on you. There are plenty of people who don’t. Mind you I have one drone that needs a $200.0+ remote id. My others already have one built in, so I am in compliance unless I fly my Phantom 4 Pro without that ugly little box. I’m retired and don’t like buying things I don’t need or want. That ugly little box is one of them.

That's the wonderful thing about the USA. You have the freedom to break rules/laws but you will pay the price for doing so.

If your Phantom 4 is the v2 DJI indicates that RID will be updated via firmware by the end of the year.
